ABSOLVA: Tour dates & brand new album title/plans
July 2, 2015
British classic metal band Absolva are set to release their 3rd studio album and have announced the first UK and European dates on which they will promote the new record. "Never A Good Day To Die" will be released on 12th October 2015 on Rocksector Records and the tour will begin during the same week.
The new record has been co-written by frontman Chris Appleton and his brother Luke who is also known for his role as bassist with American metallers Iced Earth. Absolva was originally formed in May 2012 from the ashes of Fury UK which was the band the two brothers had, together with drummer Martin McNee, before Luke was 'headhunted' for the Iced Earth role. Whilst Iced Earth has been on hiatus for the past year or so, Luke has been able to return to work with his brother in Absolva.
The first Absolva album was "Flames Of Justice" released November 2012, followed by a live album "Beyond Live" in September 2013 and a 2nd studio album "Anthems To The Dead" in May 2014 which also featured Luke Appleton playing guitar on two songs, as well as guest lead guitar by Doug Scarratt from Saxon.
The band has toured extensively during its' 3 year existence, attracting new audiences across Belgium, Germany, Netherlands and France, as well as further a-field such as Switzerland, Italy, Poland and Czech Republic. Support tours have been played with both Iced Earth and Michael Schenker's Temple of Rock, whilst festival appearances have featured, including Bloodstock Open Air (twice) and Hammerfest in the UK, as well as Wizzfest, SkullFest (twice), Metal Inferno and Summerrock festivals in Europe.
The band line-up for this new album is Chris Appleton (lead vocals and lead guitar), Martin McNee (drums), Luke Appleton (rhythm guitar and backing vocals), Karl Schramm (bass guitar and backing vocals).
Luke Appleton has this to say about "Never A Good Day To Die"!. "With Chris and I able to work together again, for the first time properly since our Fury UK days, we're able to combine some brilliant new ideas and influences which I think will help us make the best Absolva album so far. The demo tracks are exciting, full of energy and with Martin and Karl recording for the first time together in the rhythm section, the prospects for a heavy album at a whole new level are immense. We'll be recording on familiar ground with Matt Elliss at Axis Studios in Doncaster and we love how Matt works which just makes the entire recording process something to look forward to. We're proud of the new songs, and can't wait to get them down in the studio and bring them to the Absolva fans on tour".
