40 Watt Sun have confirmed that work is nearing completion on the follow up to 2011's The Inside Room, ahead of a run of live dates in the second half of 2015.

The three-piece band - best known for introspective, down-beat songwriting - began recording their sophomore album earlier this year, and have confirmed that it is reaching the final stages of being mixed. Following The Inside Room - which collected high praise from fans and critics alike - the band have focussed on playing live, before more recently turning their attention to writing and recording a follow up collection of songs.

Guitarist and vocalist, Patrick Walker commented:

"While the songwriting remains progressively consistent in style and tone from all things previous, we've adopted a far more sparse and stripped-down sound and production for this new collection of songs.

Anybody keenly anticipating a repeat of The Inside Room's wall-of-sound guitars approach may be left wanting. But beyond the patent differences, the emphasis has remained focused on strong melody and emotion and on creating beautiful and honest music; and this record contains, I hope, the most beautiful songs I have written."

Before gearing up to release the album, the band have a string of shows over the coming months, where they will play a selection of tracks from the upcoming, as yet untitled, new album, as well as earlier fan favorites.
