Ari Honkonen
Minotauri
Ari from MINOTAURI talks 'bout the Finnish Doom Metal band's second full length album, simply entitled II. And the news spread rather fast...This will as well be the last release from MINOTAURI. A few comments from Ari follow next.
Mark Negonda and Lorenzo Testa
Hyades
Thrash Now Work Later...how many years have pased since I last saw such a neck ripping motto? Italian Thrash masters HYADES were born in the wrong country, regarding their scope in music. Just grab their sophomore opus And The Worst Is Yet To Come and see why this band would score massive success if located in USA in the late 80s. Surfin' Thrash, u know whatcha mean? Maybe the finest Thrash release of 2007 (so far)...
Erik Danielsson
Watain
After reviewing WATAIN's incredible Sworn To The Dark I decided it was time for an interview with the band. Unfortunately, an interview via mail is not as live as a face to face or a phone interview. Anyway, Erik Danielsson (vocals, bass) was kind enough to answer to my questions and help me with some issues I was wondering about regarding the Black Metal scene. Below you can read what a Black Metal musician has to say about matters like Satanism, trends in the Metal scene and the false Black Metal ideals.
Claus Lessmann
Bonfire
A highly respected German act, even for fans that do not particularly listen to melodic Hard (on-the-edge Heavy) Rock, BONFIRE released their Double X Vision DVD/CD virtually outta nowhere! Still, news has been great (again) for all BONFIRE devotees since this combo is another one 'value for money' release. We instantly grabbed frontman Claus Lessmann to share a few things regarding all the details about BONFIRE and...here you are!
Ramon
Deathfall
I recently got DEATHFALL's promo and I can say this band amazed me. When I learned that Ramon (DEATHFALL's guitarist/vocalist) was going to visit Greece for some interviews I made sure not to miss the chance to sit down and have a talk with him. To tell you the truth, Ramon is a warm and kind person that made me feel like home. You rule brother! So, here is what he had to say about his band's new start.
Dave Martone
Dave Martone
If you thought that Canadian rock or metal only deals with bands like ANNIHILATOR , RUSH, and TRIUMPH, you may have to think again. Canadian guitar shredder, DAVE MARTONE has something more to say about that. Just to name some of DAVE 's achievements, you must know that he has a recording Engineering degree plus a degree from Berklee College of Music. He has performed in Florida, Seattle, Nashville, Boston, Toronto, Los Angeles New York and Vancouver plus has experience of many clinics and teaching done for Berklee College of Music and the National Guitar Workshop. His performances and clinics include colaboration with YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, STEVE MORSE (DEEP PURPLE), PAUL GILBERT (MR. BIG), JON FINN GROUP, CHESTER THOMPSON (FRANK ZAPPA), GREG BISSONET (JOE SATRIANI), MARTY FRIEDMAN (MEGADETH) and MIKE PORTNEY (DREAM THEATER). Have you had enough? Well the rest belong to DAVE. Enjoy!
Jaska
Wolfchild
You listen to the shapr riff. You get trapped in the solid drumming. Some heavy bass has caught you by surprise and some smokin' vocals makes you wonder where's your next beer.. Finland provides WOLFCHILD with some 'high energy' attitude rarely seen in this country (the mighty HANOI ROCKS and PEER GUNT was instantly borught in mind...) and Jaska, the fine act's bassist, tells it 100% like it is.
Kostas Zafiriou
Pink Cream 69
Pink Cream 69 is one of the longest living hard rock bands coming from Germany. Recently they released the amazing In10sity and I really couldn't resist the offer talking once again with them. Kostas (the drummer) is on the other side of the phone...
Henk, Arwin and Remco
Defender
The DEFENDER (temporary) reunion was good music in my ears; not only for me but for all 80s Euro Metal fans. The legendary Dutch outfit took the chance - due to the classic City Ad Mortis mini-LP reissue in late 2006 - to go on to a couple of 'revival' European gigs. Why not, now, take another chance and have a brief interview with DEFENDER? Henk, Arwin and Remco we'll meet real soon, you know!
Angel
Tierra Santa
If I was good in Spanish – or the band's vocalist/guitarist Angel in English! – then this interview would focus on much more than you'll briefly read below. The only scope for this interview was – even if epigrammatically – to raise the interest of the vast majority of Metal fans towards TIERRA SANTA's fantastic music. This Spanish act, being around for more than ten years, definitely deserves so...
Marco Hietala
Tarot
Marco is strict. Marco is somehow typical. Marco is right. Marco is still a Metal fan. Marco has the sense of humor not realy possible to be 'printed' in words. Marco carries on the TAROT legacy with Crows Fly Black. Marco is down-to-earth despite the huge NIGHTWISH success. Marco is still himself: Marco Hietala. All the best to you, too.
Floor Jansen
After Forever
Hey this girl is tall! And beautiful! I find it quite hard to stick to questions music related! But we are pro, right? Oh well AFTER FOREVER delivered an excellent album and now I have the chance to talk with singer Floor Jansen here in Athens. Let's see what she has to say...
BZ, Jozzy and Rob
Wendigo
There are many times a band you don't know shit about attracts your attention and you can't do anything else but worship its incredible music. After the very nice Outcast by EKTOMORF, one more Hungarian band comes out of nowhere to make me lose my sleep with its debut masterpiece Let It Out. After my review, I thought it was time for an interview as well. This is what BZ (vocals), Jozzy (guitar) and Rob (bass) had to say.
Monika Pedersen
Sirenia
Sirenia's new single My Mind's Eye has earned some significant air-play in the radios and the tv-shows. Metal Temple grabbed the opportunity to question the newest addition in the band's line-up Monika Pedersen whose beautiful voice took the leading role on the vocals beside the Morten Verland.
Andrea De Paoli
Labyrinth
Andrea De Paoli is one of the most famous Italian keyboard players. Actually he is the LABYRINTH keyboard player with which toured all over the world but mainly in South America, Japan, China, Middle East, Asia and Europe.
In the past he recorded albums with VISION DIVINE and SHADOWS OF STEEL.His main musical genres are Rock, Metal, Progressive, Fusion , Funk, almost everything. With this interview Andrea tells us about his project and his participation in the upcoming album.
Ravaya
Need
NEED is one of the Greek Metal bands that managed to impress me with their passion and power. They have managed to create a unique sound and that's something that I totally respect in a band. It has been a while since I reviewed their debut album The Wisdom Machine (2006) and I thought it was about time for an interview. All the questions were answered by Ravaya (guitar). If you still haven't checked these guys out, now it's time to do it!
Dennis Post
StarRats
There are times where I sit alone and wonder why some people do not accept the progress of music. How can someone remain faithful to stuff that, whether we want it or not, have died some time ago? Thank God there are still bands like STARRATS that make me stay faithful to old and heavy stuff, since they can still play them as they should be played in the 21st century. Ladies and gentlemen, enjoy Mr. Dennis Post.
Joe Sims
Axemaster
The Blessing In The Skies reissue of the legendary US Metal act AXEMASTER nearly came outta nowhere! This gave me the proper chance to send a handful of questions to founding member Joe Sims in order to talk about a bunch of things regarding the past, present and future. A true believer of the glory days of the 80s, Jim was kind enough to share his thoughts with us. Thanks a lot, bro'!
Rob Halford
Judas Priest
Does every genre in music has its Gods and its fools? I can't speak about fools but I am absolutely convinced that at least Heavy Metal always did have, still has and will always have Rob Halford, one of the very few people on this planet who fully, rightfully deserve to be called that, the magnum title of titles in Metal! Whether you're an amateur reporter, just a fan or a specialist in doing interviews, it doesn't matter. The shock of getting to talk to one of Metal's leaders, a person who stood there at the dawn of time before the wave came slamming down on our sorry asses, is irreversible.r>r>In this interview, simply put, you'll get to read about WHY Rob left JUDAS PRIEST, what happened in the meantime (FIGHT, TWO, HALFORD), what led to the grand return and what the future holds for all of us. After talking for almost an hour on the phone, I realized I simply wish more people were as decent, honest, polite and humorous as Halford, especially in the Music world. Live and learn! And the Metal God sure has tales to share with all of us. Behold!... (Note: this interview was taken on behalf of Metal Temple webzine and Rock Hard magazine - a big thank you to Chip, Sakis and Rob himself!)
Craig, Rich & Luke
Ruffians
The sleeping 'beauty' of the Ruffians' music has arisen once again! The US 'classic' metallers' brand new album Desert Of Tears carries on the tradition of good ol' U.S. Metal magic and I feel more than happy the band seems ready - again - to kick some serious Metal ass! Craig Behrhorst (guitars), Luke Bowman (drums) and Rich Wilde (vocals) reveal the current status of the Ruffians and it is obvious that some things are meant to shine forever on!
Dimitris Theodorou
The Ivory Tower
The Ivory Tower is a not so known band even for the Greek Metal scene. Still, their loyalty to the band itself is more than obvious to those following their steps these fifteen (!) years, plus their obsession in achieving their goals is widely expressed in their first-ever full length same-titled debut. Singer and founding member Dimitris Theodorou was kind enough to share his feelings regarding their impressive first album, plus we had the chance to discuss some extra stuff regarding Metal music in general.
Bat
Glyder
Excerpt #1: You have to admire a band like AC/DC who were the same 30 years ago as they are today. I want us to be a working man's band!!!r>r>Excerpt #2: I live in this amazing little village in the Wicklow Mountains. There are two pubs and that's it! Every six weeks or so we have a Rock night and everyone is a Rock musician. The people in the bands are all the guys I grew up with, their wives and girlfriends, cousins, brother and sisters . There is a girl band that compromises of a friend's wife , my fiancé and my friend's sister. There is a band of 5 brothers, they all have long hair and range in age from 16 to 32 . It's crazy. These 5 guys work as stone masons in the local quarry and it's bizarre, you wouldn't find it anywhere else in the world. Its all cover versions except for us. It's a great get together to play and enjoy Rock music and drink lots of beer. Rock music is what keeps the soul alive!!r>r>Do you need more to start reading this interesting review by this amazing Irish band? Bat, how jealous I am, you will never truly know...
Titta Tani & Silvio D'Onorio De Meo
Astra
It is a hot noon and I am walking down the road that leads to the Exarhion Hotel (in Athens). I am going to interview Astra about their debut album, About Me: Through Life And Beyond (Burning Star Records). I was a bit anxious because it was my first interview but the guys from the band made me feel like home. I am thankful for this! Anyway, what started as an interview, ended up as a friendly talk. Here's what Titta (vocals) and Silvio (guitar) told me...
Abbath
I
The new band called I - featuring Immortal's frontman Abbath and drummer Armagedda, Enslaved's guitarist Ice Dale and Gorgoroth's bassist TC King - is about to release its debut album, Between Two Worlds, in a few days through Nuclear Blast Records. Under this occasion, an interview with Mr. Abbath followed in a rather cheerful atmosphere..!
Alex Staropoli
Rhapsody Of Fire
Saturday September 30th was the release date in Italy for Triumph Or Agony, the new Rhapsody Of Fire album. Our italian Templar, Chiara, met the mighty warriors in their homeland and made an exclusive interview with Alex Staropoli, the keyboardist of the band.
Zoltan Farkas
Ektomorf
It's Sunday evening and I'm waiting for a phone call from Ektomorf's Zoltan Farkas. I was looking forward to this interview since I had previously listened to their brand new CD Outcast and reviewed it. I had many questions to ask Zoltan and he was kind enough to answer them all. So, at about 7:30 pm, the phone rang and I heard Zoltan's voice...
Geir ''Marius'' Halleland
Thunderbolt
Love & Destruction; the perfect time machine for the glorious 80's this album may be. 'Smoking', ample and ruthless, Norwegian heroes Thuderbolt are kickin' our asses with merciless force and some more info is essential from Geir Marius Halleland. Sir, be our guest...
Fredrik Andersson
Amon Amarth
When Oden decided to find more loyal warriors to replace Bathory's place in Valhalla he managed to find the next torch bearers in the name of the Lord of the rings influenced Swedish metal semi - gods Amon Amarth.
Deeply rooted in death metal with firm beliefs in Viking mythology, Amon Amarth formed in 1992 in Tumba, Sweden, they launched their assault with fierce and menace and keep on conquering the free metal Viking world time by time. Their material with combines lots of melodies, harmonies and lyrics about Vikings and the northern gods all packed in an interesting mixture. To find more about these semi - mad Viking lovers we had to reach Asgard and question one of its berserkers. So after having drunk a couple of Old Speckled Hen Amon Amarth's drummer Fredrik Andersson releases his anger from inside. Enjoy!
Erik Tormentor
Serpent Obscene
Serpent Obscene: a fine Swedish 'old-school' Death Metal act that - as I was informed via this interview - will no longer exist. Bad news...Erik explains everything regarding the band's 'swan' creation Chaos Reign Supreme and I feel lucky enough to talk to a musician who's opinion for Metal music is still so 'pure'.
Destynation
Destynation
Form the ashes of Swedish Power Metal 'fantasy travellers' Eternia, Destynation's Rising Up debut labum was a rather interesting effort, neither far away nor too close to the 'typical' Euro Power Metal style. Sweden proves - once more - the fact that you have to 'dig' really deep to come up with a mediocore band (no matter what your 'taste' is). This intervew was eventually 'uploaded' a little bit late but - what the heck? - this should not matter; c'mon in an' enjoy your Destynation!
Marc Storace
Krokus
Marc Storace is a living legend for Hard Rock music. Krokus, too. Like it or not, it's the 4/4 mid-tempo groove that will always rule the Metal world, raising your need for another beer! Marc saved some of his precious time to share his impressions on the band's latest album, Hellraiser. Well, open up and say...Hellraiser!
Mark Cross
Firewind
Firewind have a new drummer and his name is Mark Cross. I bet that most of you know him pretty well. After their brand new album, Allegiance, Mark Cross was more than happy to answer to my questions (and correct my mistakes!)...
Joacim Cans & Oscar Dronjak
Hammerfall
Tuesday afternoon at the Warner Music offices in Athens and the reporters are starting to show up to interview two of the members of Hammerfall, Joacim Cans and Oscar Dronjak. I must mention here the excellent hospitality of Warner and the very good preparation - Guys, you should inform us that there would be food; we would've brought some friends!
Alex Zeralb
Scars
Scars really impressed me with their second album The Nether Hell. This Brazilian act can definitely kick major ass when it comes to thrash metal. With no hesitation I hunted down their guitarist, Alex Zerlab, and I demanded answers.
Ciaran O'Neill
Old Season
Old Season rule!!! No doubt about it!!! Their debut limited release Volume One is definitely one of the best albums I have heard in my life. What follows is a set of questions answered by the mighty Ciaran O'Neill.
Michel ''Away'' Langevin
Voivod
The year 2005 has been a very confusing and harsh period for Voivod, since they had to face the loss of their guitar player and co-founding member Denis Piggy D' Amour and at the same time work on their next album, which includes the recordings Piggy created before he passed away. In light of these events, the following interview took place with Michel Away Langevin.
