Maurice Swinkels (Legion Of The Damned) interview
Hello Maurice and thank you for taking this interview for Metal-Temple, it is great to have you interviewed.

Hello!

Those last six years since you guys started things up were probably hefty and you are running forward with your fifth studio album. Aren't you a bit tired?

No not at all. This is of course what we love to do. Of course things are hectic sometimes, but that's part of the game.

What makes you energized with work and work and work on new material, and probably live performances, all the time with not breaks?

Exactly. I mean we rehearse once a week, and that already for almost 20 years. We are not like other bands who do not rehearse at all and then come together once there is a tour, they gather up 3 months before a tour or cd recording and then start to rehearse or write songs. Legion is always on the move 😉

"Descent Into Chaos" is the name of your new album through your German label Massacre Records. Are there any differences in comparison to your other albums?

Musical wise maybe abit more groovies, abit slower here and there. But the main difference is the sound of the album

Is "Descent Into Chaos" is the first album that your guys didn't write the lyrics and why did you choose Skullcrusher Manero to write those down for you?

Tony has written the lyrcis for all the albums. I used to write lyrics myself with the band previous to legion, but then I started my own company and I was working 24/7, so I decided for the first legion album to ask a friend, and it turned our so well we kept him as our main writer

Peter Tagtgren worked with you guys on the production of the album. I heard lots of this guy's works and he is great, how was it to work with him?

It was a pleasure working with him!

Many bands like you guys have their share of problems holding a steady lineup. You guys are one of those bands that hold together pretty good, what's you're secret?

Don't have a big ego and have the band as a hobby, so nothing is a must and we have a lot of fun. If we would do the band as a job, then things are different

How come you have a Legion of the Damned football team? What's the story behind that?

Just something fun to support!

What is planned for you guys in the concert department, any tours scheduled?

We just finished the tour with Kataklysm, for the rest we have only festivals planned this year.

Guys I would like to say thanks again for taking this interview for Metal-Temple. May "Descent Into Chaos" shred the limbs out of everyone as your previous stuff did. Horns up!

Thanks Lior!
