So this is the 6th date on your UK tour, how has it been so far?

It's been awesome, on this tour we have played a lot of places we haven't been for a while or played before so we've reached out to a lot of fans who can't normally get to our shows. We're playing a lot more shows and our fans seem to be very happy with that.

Do you enjoy playing the UK?

Of course, from the first time we came over here many years ago we've had a lot of appreciation from our fans and it's really great and we've made a lot of friends along the way. The UK fans are some of the most insane and best fans we have, we're always treated really well by them.

You released Silence In The Snow in October, do you think fans are enjoying the album?

Yeah the fans seem to be really happy with the new album, it's been out for a few months and people are starting to sing along to what we have in the setlist. Matt's vocals have improved a lot, especially with the cleans so it's a very anthemic album and we wanted an album that's gonna sound great when playing huge festivals.

What is your favourite track from the album?

That's a tough one as I love the songs we play live mostly but I mostly enjoy ''Cease All Your Fire''.

What is the concept behind Silence In The Snow?

I don't really take part in the lyrical writing of albums, but the imagery is mostly around our skull mascot guy which feels iconic and simple. The vibe stems from the title track which we originally wrote for ''Shogun'' but was never used but was changed a lot to how we currently felt about it. We wanted something that was pure heavy metal that inspired us so we could do something the same but in our own way.

The album sounds a lot different from your previous releases, have you enjoyed the change?

The last two records had a more modern sound with a lot of the double bass parts and vocals so we've taken out a lot of what we had and made into more of a straight up rock and heavy metal album so it feels more energetic. So we've taken a lot of inspiration from bands we love.

You've been with TRIVIUM for over 10 years, do you think you've learned a lot since joining?

Oh totally, I've learned a lot about recording and sound as I was kinda clueless but it's helped with song writing too while working with various people.

Who inspired you to play guitar?

Slash to start with but my interest really peaked when I started listening to bands like METALLICA and MEGADETH. It started with GUNS N ROSES and got heavier from there.

What bands got you into metal?

Well I started off with GUNS N ROSES then lead into IRON MAIDEN, SLAYER, ICED EARTH and more. I think ''Master Of Puppets'' is one of my gateway albums.

What advice would you give to people wanting to learn to play guitar like you?

Learn from different players with different styles but learn to have a unique style too.
