Scars - The Nether Hell album cover

AAARRRGGGHHH!!! RRROOOAAARRR!!! And that's the best way to describe this piece of work. A Metal thrashing holocaust by these Brazilians (Sao Paolo natives) gurantees to kick you motha-f*ckin' ass. Wow, it's been a long time since I heard that good thrash metal!
Scars started their career back in 1991! Through the years the band has managed to play along many respectful names (Anthrax & Kreator just to mention a couple - hell yeah!). Their debut album was released in 1994, called Ultimate Encore. Ok, so they are not so productive but it is quite obvious that their years of experience have had a strong impact on the compositions of this new EP.
Definitely guided by the 80's Bay Area Thrash school, the material in The Nether Hell is quite speedy but never swamped in hubbub while there are several alterations in speed (for example the song Nether Hell has a bombastic mid tempo groove). Not only are the riffs pumping with power but also the solos are quite imaginative and colorful.
The production is rather bold and the CD as a package is quite luxurious (for a jewel case package). In conclusion I think this is one of the biggest surprises in Thrash Metal the last couple of years. Fans of the genre, invest without hesitation.
