Nearly a sold out event, with remaining tickets only for the third and last day (Sunday, June 22[sup]nd[/sup]2014). The HELLFEST FESTIVAL 2014 is famous for focusing on what really matters, the true nature of the rightful music, Heavy Metal, on all of its genres and spawns. This is not for thefuzzy loving Kumbaya tree huggers (or in the immortal words of Eric Cartman:

If the name didn't ring your bells hard enough, this year's festival is all about the classics, setting your up with the old school acts of Hard Rock up to the brutal gutters of the blasphemous and atrocious of what Metal can deliver. On the third day (tickets still available!) you'll get to see and hear the prince of darkness and the godfather of Metal himself, Ozzy Osbourne with BLACK SABBATH. That pretty much closes the deal for yours truly. But you're probably asking, wait, there's a whole day there, who am I going to see beyond that?

I could just throw names like MEGADETH, SOUNDGARDEN, ALTER BRIDGE, ICED EARTH, OPETH! I could also tell you that if you've missed the tickets for the first and second day, then sadly you won't be seeing IRON MAIDEN, SLAYER, DEEP PURPLE, SABATON, it actually goes on and on. HELLFEST FESTIVAL has 6 stages with at least 8 different bands performing on each. That makes around 50 bands every single day or 150 head banging, hardcore Metal bands in the whole 3 day festival.

To the uninitiated, all that name throwing could mean very little, so in case you're too young or lived under a rock for the last 40 years, here is a swift go about of several of the acts that will seduce your soul into chaos:

BLACK SABBATH

They're Brits, Grammy Winners. Yes, that's where it all started around 1968 with Ozzy Osbourne as their vocalist. A lot of water went through the Thames since, Metal music has evolved, broadened, but the originals still sound as good as ever.

IRON MAIDEN

Brits too (get used to it!), formed in 1975 and brought in a lot of heavy riffs and speed. Their style influenced big names such as METALLICA and AVENGED SEVENFOLD (who will be playing on day two).

DEEP PURPLE

Another British band, formed in 1968, heavy metal and hard rock pioneers though they started off as a progressive rock band. DEEP PURPLE along with BLACK SABBATH heavily influenced IRON MAIDEN, see the connection there?

SLAYER

American Thrash Metal galore, formed in 1981, best known for their epic album "Reign in Blood". SLAYER are very much about pure undiluted speed. You can find other giants who drew their influence from SLAYER, such PANTERA, SLIPKNOT and SEPULTURA (playing on the very same stage on the first day of the festival).

MEGADETH

Thrash Metal band from the U.S.A, formed in 1983. Following the blueprint of MOTORHEAD and IRON MAIDEN, they brought in speed and aggression from hardcore punk to the instrumental virtuosity of the NWOBHM.

EMPEROR

It would appear that the dark creatures of the night from Norway never actually left. Ihsahn and his crew, Samoth and Faust, will arrive from the Norse lands to unleash the cosmic festering of Black Metal mania, carving the early gods while also producing fresh ventures, EMPEROR will be the festival's blackened hazard to immerse yourself in.

So, in case you've missed the opportunity of getting a 3 day pass, you can still secure yourself a ticket for Sunday, June 22[sup]nd[/sup]and see BLACK SABBATH, SOUNDGARDEN, MEGADETH, ICED EARTH, 1349, OPETH and quite a few other big names here:
