When you are dealing with bands that play 'funeral' Doom there are only two possibilities. One, the album is going to be quite good, meaning that it will manage to pass the pain and the dark feelings to the listener, or it's going to be the best medicine for insomnia. The question is, in which path is REMEMBRANCE following?

The band from France came to life just four ears ago. The two members of the group released their first demoAmong Lost Illusions in 2005. After just six months, REMEMBRANCE first album was out, entitled Frail Visions. So now, under a new label, the duet, gave us their second effort, Silencing The Moments, in the first half of 2008.

Even though its summer and, I believe, this is not the proper soundtrack when it's 35 degrees Celsius outside, I put the album in my CD player. To tell you the truth, I didn't have the chance to listen to their first album, only the samples from two songs they have at MySpace, but I believe that they are in the right direction. Don't expect anything innovative. We all know that it's difficult for novelties in this kind of music. But the whole atmosphere is the thing that gives the band extra points. Heavy guitar riffs and slow rhythms are bringing in mind walks in a cemetery during a night with heavy fog. The growls of Sachs are binding beautifully with the clean voice of Carline and the keyboards. This, let's say, neoclassical dark wave music, brings in mind bands like DARK SANCTUARY and makes the whole album darker.

With their second album REMEMBRANCE is knocking the door to every 'funeral' Doom Metal fan. A worth-the-notice effort that hopefully such metalheads will support.
