Here's a hard working band supporting the genre it represents with full force. Razorwire not only have been over-productive since their birth, they have also been busy with every aspect of the music industry.
Founded in 1997, they debuted in 2003 with League Of The Godless. But in the meantime they managed to release a series of demos, singles, promos (1998's Rough Demos, 1999's Wired To The Sin, 2000's Wired To Another Sin, 2000's Never Yours To Grind, 2001's Music To Fuck Girls By, 2001's Loose My Head and 2002's Guttermouth!!!). But that's not all. They've formed their own label and are also responsible for the Godless Festival held twice every year in their hometown! Respect!!!
A Bullet Called Pride is their last release with lead guitarist Danny Carden due to both personal and health issues. Too bad. On with the review. What I liked the most in this album is the band's ability to balance between extreme songwriting and more mainstream flavors (if you can ever use such a term in Hardcore). It doesn't take long for the listener to realize that this album satisfies both sides of the audience. From the furious Dipole to the slower (and with an amazing solo) D-FENS and the catchy / groovy Good Times the album manages to change moods from one song to another.
The production is quite stomping but not so chaotic as in many other Hardcore releases. In order to pick a couple of songs out of the bunch, I will go with Good Times (that one will make a lot of people jump up and down) and the more Stoner-like Thicker Than Water. All in all A Bullet Called Pride was one of the few Hardcore albums I bare to listen to more than once. I guess that's a good sign, right?
