[Harry]: This weekend was full of live shows for me. On Saturday it was ULVER and on Sunday it was ANGELWITCH. So, I took the metro and went down to the center of Athens at An club just in time to watch CONVIXION performing on stage.
[Harry]: Surprisingly enough, the time delay was not as long as usual. CONVIXION had good communication with the audience gathered by that time inside the venue. I said 'inside the venue' since there were many metalheads waiting outside! I'll never understand the reason to go to a concert and just sit outside the venue After all, you are going to listen to some bands and have fun; and not get into public relationships! Nevertheless, the band managed to warm us up. They played songs like The Avenger, Heavy Metal Way and Drink Metal, among others. They left the stage and seamed that they had a good time, like us. I am really looking forward to seeing them again with TANKARD this Saturday (21st of November). After a short break to setup the stage and for us to grab a beer or two, the second act was on stage. So, on to Caterina:
[Caterina]: CLAIRVOYANT from Greece was the second band that hit the stage. If I remember well, they played their own songs. I personally wasn't that impressed and as far as I'm concerned most of the people felt the same. Maybe they could do better. Their Heavy Metal was ok but nothing special.
[Caterina]: STRIKELIGHT was the last supporting act. One of the classic Greek Heavy Metal bands. I have seen them live many times before and I can tell that they kick major ass. This time they had the new singer for the first time and it was just a great show! Awesome voice and setlist. There were so many people headbanging and singing. I'm pretty sure that most of the people in there enjoyed their show.
[Harry]: So, after this Greek Heavy Metal assault, and a quick chat with Kristoffer Rygg from ULVER (he came to the club with the rest of his band), it was time to watch -for the second time in a few months- ANGELWITCH live. I can't describe what happened when those four guys showed upe. All of us knew what we were about to listen thus there is no reason to talk about the setlist. It was a gig that most of the fans in Greece who did not have the opportunity go abroad, were really looking forward to see. What if Kevin Heybourne voice wasn't there at some parts? We were there for him! The sound was above average and quite good for the Greek low standards. Those present in An club saw on stage one of the leaders of N.W.O.B.H.M. and a legend of the Heavy Metal scene and should feel lucky about it. They've witnessed a true live, without useless solos, big pauses and long impromptu speeches. Pure fucking HEAVY METAL.
After an almost 70 minutes ANGELWITCH said goodbye and a sincere Thank you to all of us and gave the promise to return. I left the club with a big smile on my face knowing that I will remember this weekend for a long time.
