Echoes Of A Nightmare is the debut album of the Swedish Power Metallers Moonlight Agony. They formed in 1999 and after three demos they managed to release their first album.
For all of you who do not know about them, and I think that you are quite a few, Moonlight Agony play Melodic Power Metal with a few Progressive touches. I think that their basic influences are Labyrinth and Firewind and they also have some influences from Kamelot. Their music is good and their songs are good compositions too.
The guitars have are based on good ideas and the drums are steady and fast. They have many symphonic melodies, played by the keyboards, in their songs and many of them might remind you of Rhapsody in some songs. The keyboards create an epic atmosphere in half of the songs and in the other half they have a darker feeling. Chity's voice, who is also Firewind's singer, is very good and he is one more asset that gives extra points to Moonlight Agony.
Echoes Of A Nightmare has been recorded at Division One studio outside Gothenburg. Producer in the studio was Tom Englund, singer and guitarist of Evergrey.
In conclusion, we have a dignified and noticeable album from a new band and I think that they will be warmly accepted by the Power Metal fans. They are able to write even better music and I think that we will hear definitely hear from them in the near future.
