FALSE MEMORIES; a Dark Metal quintet originally formed in 2015 release new record "Hybrid Ego System" (released June 9th, 2023), of which I am introduced to. 12 tracks ranging around 60 minutes, the band in question offers an intricately designed formula on this subgenre with performed yet prodigious enthrallment and distinguished éclat. "The Storm Inside" starts off the record; opening up with this synthetic shroud of symphonic majesty, piano-esque keys & rumbling reverb ramify with melodic harmony. Flamboyantly fabricating a euphonic density in gothic executed atmosphere, tight solos soar with shrieking shreds from dexterously dynamic guitar duo Francesco Savino & Moreno Palmisano. Both tower with twinning & crystal-clear hymns that manifest with sulphurous remedy, implementing a hybrid experimental impact - as mellifluous meatiness utilizes versatile vehemence amongst an amplified hook in concretely gritty firepower expertise that's momentously organic whilst blisteringly black for good forge.
"Holding On" crafts an ethereal distinction in weighty, punchline trembles & venomous volatility. As distorted bleakness heralds a profusely robust tonality on technical thuds of sturdy yet synergetic stability, whilst this monolithic tempo surges with vivacious songwriting technicalities that romp out with rampant rifts of zealous musicianship equalities - in which remains rigorously deathly and gnarly... especially in "Rising Tide". "The Other Side" showcases Rossella Moscatello's vocals with unique pipes of uproarious yells and clean but high-pitched throatiness, where pugnacious gutturals come into play which varies her cordial complexity with otherworldly singing that's salubriously rich & original. Lots of anthemic hymns fabricate a malignantly yet sanguine tremolo pattern to it, as crescendo building thumpiness within pummelling slammers & steely yet rambunctious piledrives from Davide Tavecchia's bass injections amongst Emanuele Cossu hammering drums batters a belting but clobbering foundation with persistent buoyancy.
"Rise Again", "Stains" & "Concrete" compile ebullient flair in hefty chugs and frolicking gallops... while scouring rhythms rift with riveting hooks amongst a complexly creative symbiosis on rollicking grooves and crunchy licks that merge well with the dainty array of symbolic enthrallment in which skyrockets with primitive rawness & strong musical prowess that provides this killer listen that's most fluid, amongst a dark slab of solid seamlessness that's rather splendid to jam to. "Insanity", "From Dust" & "Fragments Of Your Ego" all also conjure up more strife stridency that supplies more meticulous transparencies in inventive musical juxtapositions that materialises with vibrantly potent strikes that pursuit with quirky yet boisterously bouncy frenzies in bashful but blistering grips that will mesmerize you with an enlightening but fulfilling experience.
Overall concluding "Hybrid Ego System with the finale epic "Shed My Skin" that rips & tears with more tainted systematics of synergetic stability, entranced immensely as intense instrumental finesse continues blinding my soul to rock along amongst an archaic archetype in flexibly fundamental Dark Metal virulence that's rather splendid & uniquely different for Frontiers Records (with my previous experience). Bottom line; an enjoyably entertaining discovery awaits you nonetheless, FALSE MEMORIES most surely outdone themselves with this one - worthy of spinning & re-playing a good bunch of times - do check it out.
