Spectral Intercession
Coffin Mulch
Metal maniacs, rejoice! I am proud to present to you: COFFIN MULCH; signed via Memento Mori records, hailing from Scottish grounds - performing Death Metal, on their debut full-length studio album entitled: "Spectral Intercession" (released June 30th, 2023). Since formation in 2018; the quartet in question have a self-titled demo (released February 21st, 2019), an EP entitled: "Septic Funeral" (released February 26th, 2021) & this here debut full-length studio album in their discography so far of which I am introduced to. 8 tracks ranging around 30 minutes; COFFIN MULCH arranges an intricately designed formula on some heavy-hitting Death Metal developments.
Opening up with this insane hysteria of symbolic retribution; the titular track belts a clobbering foundation in a blistering barrage frenzy, bulldozing eardrums with ruthless pandemonium & rampantly rompy mayhem. Surging maniacally with rip roaring shreds from dexterously dynamic striker David; pursuing with throttling rumbles of reverberating tempos of monolithic yet sulphurously volatile meatiness that renegades with tight, punchline grooves and distilled but chiselling momentum that's most berserking. Wildly rushing snares scour with primitively raw maelstrom technicality; malignantly manifesting with bulldozing blasphemy and boisterously bouncy crunchiness which rollicks with chugging gallops amongst a frolicking adrenaline in amplified hookage, clamouring intensely as a distinctively bombastic distortion executes a gnarly fabrication in cavernous bestiality - giving you that relentlessly brutal aesthetic for good sport - persistently profound within "Into The Blood".
"Mental Suicide" bombs speakers with more venomous virulence on ominously jarring perseverance & rapidly swift nimbleness that showcases organic substance, amongst a towering systematic on salubriously piledriving ramifications that surges with razor-sharp maliciousness. Thumpy bass abhorrence flickers from audible bassist Rich & rambunctious stomps from hammering drummer Fraser both tear their noisy weapons with profusely robust slaps, forging a fierce firepower expertise that's sonically seamless whilst vehemently solid. "In The Grip Of Death" & "Fall Of Gaia" stampede with visceral rampage; whilst Al on vocals unleashes these pugnacious yells of throaty raspiness, assimilating barking grumbles and bleeding gutturals as bludgeoning foundations fabricate a dense craftsmanship ability that will inject an infectious calamity of killer proportions right through your skull to bash along to.
"Gateway Into The Unseen" conjures up more diabolical arrays in firing all cylinder's attribution and an all guns blazing crescendo building tremolo masquerade that implements a hardened element in hybrid experimentation, where sturdy thuds of tight weight & shrieking solidity will thrash through you with immense intensity... as a groove-bomb stridency strife's with meltdown finesse and literal "Infernal Mass". Which the penultimate banger engulfs you with trembling profanity, viciously & vigorously... this synergistic stability portrays primitively raw revs which revolves around an extreme overdose on monstrously savage rigor that will start your day forged with pummelling yet sinister malignance that's just gnarly all round.
Overall concluding "Spectral Intercession" with the finale epic rager: "Eternal Enslavement"; I am compelled to say that COFFIN MULCH fabricated a foreboding Death Metal offering which justifies this subgenre with an enjoyably entertaining discovery and experience should you fancy a fix of this mandatory slab of ravenous yet radically wicked well... spectral intercession! Definitely worthy of spinning & replaying a good bunch of times, do check it out.
