Beyond Death
Church Of The Dead
Metal maniacs, rejoice! I am proud to present to you: CHURCH OF THE DEAD; signed via Redefining Darkness, performing Death Metal, on their sophomoric full-length studio album entitled: "Beyond Death" (released May 26th, 2023). Since formation in 2012; the trio in question have 5 EPs, and 2 full-length studio albums in their discography so far... I'm introduced to their 2nd offering entitled "Beyond Death". 8 tracks ranging around 40 minutes; CHURCH OF THE DEAD arranges an intricately designed formula on some heavy-hitting Death Metal developments.
Opening up with this symbolic but blistering barrage frenzy in boisterously bouncy distortion; gnarly profanity surges with rampantly rompy thuds of sturdy maliciousness, bludgeoning eardrums with scouring snares of savagely sinister oppression... sulphurously ramified with volatile meatiness & revving momentum within "Dawn Of The Wizard". A bestial brutality injects an infectious bass flicker from audible thumper Antti Poutanen, who densely clobbers his axe with razor-sharp technicality... while rambunctious piledrives stomp with nimble substance with hammering drum synthetics that's organically venomous - especially in "Tombdweller".
A concretely gritty foundation in visceral rips slay with monolithic tempo & blasphemous aesthetics, as extreme intensity forges a hybrid distinction in distinguished firepower expertise, where tight slabbiness rivets with solid punchline rips from guitar chugger Kride Lahti. A dexterously dynamic virtuosity unearths monolithic tempo with strident vivaciousness; relentlessly rumbling with reverberating pandemonium & raw malignancy, manifesting this striking pursuit on rapidly nimble substance... organic tonality then masquerades with salubrious stampedes of synergetic mayhem, as "Ashes Of The World" belts a clobbering maelstrom stability that's rigorously meaty whilst monstrously vigorous to boot.
A bulldozing cover from MAYHEM's "Chainsaw Gutsfuck" comes next; where Jussi Salminen's raspy vocals unleashes throaty shrieks, pugnaciously spewing out guttural grumbles and barking yells of shouty oppression & malevolent abhorration in which wraths with momentous songwriting oblivion - trailblazed with grindy assimilation that will make you want to slay with satanic vascularity with profusely robust might, a faithful cover. "Whore Of Eden" surges with more rollicking chugs and galloping ferocity, as an amplified adrenaline distils a densely experimental hybrid in blackened Death Metal prowess that persistently perseveres with ritualistic vehemence & versatile distinction.
"Christborn" showcases more distinguished elements in implementing atmospheric desegregation amongst a heralding harness in bruising instrumental finesse; deathly berserking, an ethereal distinguishment attributes at an extreme conjuration of symbolic retribution and diabolical flamboyance that procreates wicked abhorrence, intertwining abominable but entrancing empowerments as evil thwarted songwriting musicianship anchors a cavernous outré that's just prodigiously throttling. The penultimate banger "Wormwood" fabricates a converging mystique on more transgressional malformations of virulent bleakness and dark calamity while the overall concluding finishing epic "Floating In Blood" swamps you with more systematic ghoul in which makes for a fitting end for sure.
Bottom line; I am compelled to say that CHURCH OF THE DEAD was an enjoyably entertaining discovery in which makes this spin worthy of replaying a good bunch of times, "Beyond Death" portrayed bleak but hefty endeavour that serves this justifiable subgenre with prominent offerings in Death Metal meticulance that will definitely and certainly excel at a crescendo building tremolo towering strife to start your grizzly listen off rightly with - a flexible fundamental in radically wicked transparencies await - do check it out.
