At least you know that with a name like TORTURED DEMON you're not going to be listening to some lame AOR band. Nope, not at all, these guys from Oldham, Greater Manchester, England play Thrash Metal with Metalcore influences. And to put you at ease; the combination works for these guys! They have only been around since 2018, but have been very busy since then. Their self-titled EP "Tortured Demon" saw the light of day, followed by the debut album "In Desperation's Grip" in 2021. And now, on June 2^nd 2023, they released their second full length album. They named it "Rise Of The Lifeless", and I can understand why. This will easily raise the dead.

The fact that ages of the band members range from 17 (Guitarist and singer Jacob Parkinson), 19 (Drummer Joe Parkinson & Guitarist Billy Hourigan) and 22 (Bassist Sean Xavier) only adds to my admiration of TORTURED DEMON. To be able to put out so much music in such a short time is already quite admirable, but to be able to do that with this kind of quality is simply outstanding.

From the very first tones of "An Empire Condemned" until the dying sounds of "The Damage Is Done" you are taken on an adventure of epic proportions. Like I mentioned before, the quality is superb. All songs have that kind of coherence that makes them gel together as it should on an album. On the other hand, they all are just that different from each other that you can easily distinguish the influences used throughout "Rise Of The Lifeless". It ranges from slow and deep to blastbeats fast, plus all the tempos you can think of in between.

I don't know about you, but my 60 year plus old heart still starts beating faster when I hear young blood reaching out in such a way. It excites me to no end. If only all the newcomers were able to stand up for themselves and make a difference. I reviewed BROTALITY last year, and they almost broke my back because of their brilliant album "The Woods Will End You". And now TORTURED DEMON are doing the same with "Rise Of The Lifeless". I feel it's just a pity that being able to participate in the moshpit, circle pit or whatever pit they throw at it, as participating is beyond my physical abilities nowadays. Because TORTURED DEMON would have definitely have seen me in the thick of things when playing songs of "Rise Of The Lifeless".
