Occulsed - Parturition of Adulteration album cover

OCCULSED was formed in 2019 and is from Georgia, in the United States. They are a death metal trio made up of not only musicians but they have a lot of presence in metal music in general with the members running labels and graphic design work. They released their first demo in 2019 with Cenotaph To Putridity and quickly followed it up with a second demo in 2020, a five track release titled Ceremonial Lifelessness. In 2021 the band returned, this time putting out their first full length release Crepitation of Phlegethon. Fast Forward to the start of December 2022 and the band releases the single Resiled Necromniscience and within three weeks after, we have their second full length album Parturition of Adulteration.

The album starts off with the track "Decayed in Stasis" and it is riddled with dark intent. The vocals are a deep gasping throat roar that sort of sits on top of the music as a layering like a mist on top of calm water in the morning. Although in this case the water is anything but calm. The instruments to me on this track are all doing their own thing in hopes that they will meet up at some point. "Cenotaph to Putridity" features some spastic rhythmic blast drumming at one point that catches your attention and sticks in your head. A really cool little piece of music by Jared. The track is two minutes long and is molded and builds off of a deep and devastating riff. The same style is put into motion on the following track "Deity Unborn". Coming in at just over two minutes and sends shock waves through your system just listening to it.

The vocals and lyrics are sinister in nature, protruding vile portraits as black and coating as tar. The track "Into the Necrocculsion" is uprooted from the evil depths below and is chaotic in every degree when it comes to the music. Voracious pace and a deep blistering guitar and bass defiles the song. More stand out drumming on "Rancid Blessings". A pure assault on the snare and effortless roles are riddled throughout the three minute track as the transitions are fluid as fuck. The last track I will talk about is "Winds of Penury" as the song starts off with a building tension before exploding into a frenzy. The formation of tension that is built up continues throughout the track as the structure of the song is not like the rest. The pace becomes a sluggish and tormented pace with sonic guitar and a deep rumbling bass. Not to say that it is the highlight of the release, it's just a little more depth to the album.

I will come right out and say it, this album is not for me, or maybe piece by piece, not just as a whole. I find at times the music separates itself into individual sections, but with that being said, it does usually tie back together. The drumming is mind boggling at times with the guitar and bass being no slouches in their own right. But when it comes down to it, I think this was a one and done for me. This could be a real pleaser for anyone who is looking to add to their brutal death metal playlist.
