Our Darkest Days

I knew Ignite as a band well enough to be aware of what I was going to come across. Fortunately these guys didn't disappoint me at all. Ignite is a band that will cheer me up, no matter what! Ok, it's time to stop jumping around. I have a few things to write about this band...
Formed in 1994, in Orange County, Ignite are a band that can perfectly mix Rock, Punk and Hardcore. The result is a groundbreaking release after another! Even if it has been six years since their last album, A Place Called Home (2000), Ignite have released various live 7'', 10'' and split CDs. This time, with producer Cameron Webb (Social Distortion, Motorhead, Sum 41, Silverstein), they make a dynamic comeback that will make their name shine even more!
So, when I think of Ignite, the first thing that comes into my mind is that I was so stupid to miss their live performance with No Balance here in Greece. Anyway, let's get to the point. Ignite are characterized as melodic Hardcore or Punk/Hardcore. Not so raw as Hardcore. They seem more like a Punk act to me. The songs are quite happy. And that's what I really liked about Our Darkest Days. Songs like Poverty For All and Fear Is Our Tradition are cheerful, but on the other hand can also make you think about politics and social issues a bit. Ignite express their ideas in a unique way...
They don't really have to offer something new or different, but they play with passion. A feeling that tends to extinct in today's musicians. The production is also great, making the album strong and heavy. It is like listening to the band playing live! These guys must really rule on stage! Another thing I wanted to mention is the cover they did for this record, Sunday Bloody Sunday. A well-known song (I hope so...) by U2. Ignite have transformed the song into a fast and furious Punk cover!
It will surely take a very long time for this CD to leave my CD player! If you are a classic Metal fan, don't even think about purchasing Our Darkest Days. Otherwise, GO GET IT!!!
