INFESTED ANGEL is a Death Metal band from Birmingham, England. "Submit to Death" is the group's second EP, released independently on March 22, 2022.

First of all, this band's biggest strength is its songwriting. The group knows how to write memorable riffs that are brutal, offer touches of melody, and are repetitive enough to stay in your head but without getting stale. "Denaturate" offers some of the strongest collections of riffs on this record, mixing influences from groups like MORBID ANGEL, PESTILENCE, and even DEATHSPELL OMEGA.

Second of all, the band functions as a unit well. Andrew is a tight rhythm player, locking in his gallops and tremolo picking with the drums and bass perfectly. His vocals are also pretty impressive. Although they are, at times, incoherent, his styling ranges from brutal growls to even Schmier-like screams, particularly on the track "Eden." Tom is not a very flashy bass player, but he gets the job done and anchors the groove well. And, last but not least, Pat is clearly an accomplished drummer, juggling beats and tempo changes like some of the greatest out there.

If only the production were stronger. Pat's drums sound as if they were recorded in a cave and lack the punch that is necessary for them to truly cut through in the mix. At times, Tom's bass is overpowering everything else in the mix. And Andrew's guitars sound muddy and flubby, clearly missing the requisite compression needed to truly tighten up their sound. His vocals also sound like they were recorded in a cave, as they are completely washed out with reverb. It's things like this that would make it really hard for me to give this album a truly excellent review.

Other highlights from this EP include "Torture Condemnation," with his haunting, melodic outro; "Harmony of Drought," with its wild opening riffs and breakneck tempo; and "Tempt the Unlife," by far the grooviest track on this record.

Overall, if not for the awful production, this EP could be a hit. Everything else about this band's sound shows the makings of contenders for the title of the next big Death Metal band. All they need to do is just spend a little more money on a better producer, and their next album will be epic, I guarantee it.
