Lord Agheros - Koinè album cover

Metal maniacs, rejoice! I am proud to present to you: LORD AGHEROS; signed via My Kingdom Music, hailing from Italian grounds - performing Ambient Black Metal, on the lord's 6th full-length album entitled: "Koinè" (released February 18th, 2022).

Since formation in 1999; the soloist in question has 6 full-length albums in his discography so far entitled: "Hymn" (released February 2007), "As A Sin" (released September 29th, 2008), "Of Beauty And Sadness" (released April 23rd, 2010), "Demiurgo" (released November 26th, 2012), "Nothing At All" (released June 20th, 2016) and this 6th album entitled: "Koinè" altogether. 8 tracks ranging around 42 minutes, LORD AGHEROS arranges an intricately designed formula on some heavy-hitting Ambient Black Metal developments.

Opening up with this pianist segment; where this melancholic ritual starts off the album, an ambient atmosphere of synth-esque harmony enriches one's spirit with mythical & majestic symbolism within "The Prophecy". An enchanting vocal rises up with operatic sublimity, solo performer Gerassimos Evangelou attributes at a singular marvel of solace ridden hymns until this barrage frenzy of riveting guitars hooks eardrums with rampant remedy - merging this mystifying symphony of backing choirs amongst a flamboyant distinction in electronica beats & rumbling reverberation. "The Walls Of Nowhere" distills a sulfurous ramification on trembling rhythms, groovy panache & weighty synergy, as a gripping dexterity revels with rollicking distortion amongst an upheaval wrath of guttural growls while throaty raspiness surges with Black Metal momentum. This relentless yet sonically seamless manifestation soars with gnarly but boisterously bouncy rawness on primitive pandemonium, while ruthless strikes pursuit with sacrilege-driven experimentation for diverse and gothic-like intensity.

Having visioned that this would be a concept ceremony of satanic but archaic sorcery, these refreshing archetypes in Black Metal wizardry stridently thuds out sturdy malice too. "Hold The Line" impactfully revs out meaty zest while blistering bombast tremors with tenoring mounted blasphemy, harnessing distinguished grinds and slaying rambunctiousness that piledrives with stompy thumps amongst a audible slab of solid profanity. Drums hammer with rompy crunchiness and choppy slams, while blending a borderline foundation in sinister vehemence that varies with trailblazing finesse. Fierce firepower crafts a creative maelstrom versatility that belts a bulldozing conundrum on volatile mayhem within "Sow", catchy and deadly; this one rollicks with rapidly swift nimbleness amongst a vibrantly potent tonality that steamrolls with salubriously visceral bombast, brilliantly well.

Distributing a clobbering experimentation, hybrid contortion frolics a galloping virtuosity on monstrous malignance & ethereal loftiness, while other-worldly spiritualism unearths this angelic but demonic collective in celestial divinity. As "Same Blood" constructs a dainty serenity which tones down from that Black Metal grime with immersive entrance, it's nice & powerful, while rigorously vigorous for good measure - where guest guitarist Antonio Billè monolithically riffs his axe with strong strifes & with eerie but superlunary stability too in a deathly manor. "Sleep Among The Stars" rifts with that motive profusely & robustly, converging an enriching "mise-en-scène" execution from all that primordial havoc, giving one this slight breather before more of those snarly scours come back full force. Fusing dark yet spine-chilling ambience with those mundane Black Metal bellows and grunty chords, amongst a choir-like consonance is a beautiful accord should one fancy a ominously jarring yet prodigious slice of elegantly exquisite sonata that morphs with this sub-genre intriguingly well - still remaining grandeur and grandiose for good sport.

The penultimate epic "...Of May" culminates all this perfectly, this 8 minute spectacle introduces a flute-fuelled substance which supplies this organic calamity in all things metal & orchestra related boundaries into an uplifting yet mellifluous euphony, in which nails this representation wonderfully well. Overall concluding "Koinè" with the finale outro "Litany Of The Hermit"; this spoken-word chant closes the record with infectious yet venomous injections in complex songwriting musicianship that's very well done for a solo lord such as LORD AGHEORS.

Bottom line; an interesting listen, and an enjoyably entertaining discovery for those who look for a sundry manifold of charismatic characteristics that's not so linear but full of quintessential qualities that will make you feel blessed in the meantime. Worthy of spinning & replaying a couple of times, do check it out.
