FLITCRAFT is the new project from Australian Hard Rock/Heavy Metal musician Phillip T. King. Last seen on vocals and guitar in 70's influenced psych-rockers BUTTERFLY, and on vocals in Traditional/Speed metallers GALAXY, King's new project falls somewhere in between those previous musical adventures. It's Hard Rock with quirk...traditional Heavy Metal with a twist. The album contains eight tracks.

"Stranger Street" leads off the album. It begins with a riff reminiscent of the 80's. The vocals are less than impressive, unfortunately. The singer has a decent range, but there is a disconnect between them and the melancholy music. "Memory" isn't much better, with a mid-tempo riff of trite rhythm guitars and some very thin music from there. Thicken this up with a hefty dose of vocal harmonies and some increased guitar presence, and then we are talking. "Blue Flower" is another mid-tempo song with lamenting leanings. At this point, the vocals are becoming annoying. Please make it stop.

"Bed of Spiders" begins with a decent drum fill but it's right back to those elementary riffs again with pitchy vocals. There is very little to champion about this music. The title track isn't ay better. I feel somewhat bad for ripping on the album, but through five tracks, it has a very simple sound without any dynamism or cause for celebration. "Another Drink, Another Serenade" is another uninspired song. If I could tell the band one thing, it would be to add layers into the music...either backing vocals or additional guitar tracks, because it's as thin as a sheet of paper. "Claustrophobia" is another hopeless song.

"Asleep in the Sand" is seven minutes that I will never get back. It begins with clean guitars and some sad melodies but falls into the trap of earlier songs. This is where I want to be when they album plays. Unfortunately, this album was pretty bad. Phillip has a decent voice, but that early JUDAS PRIEST vibe, without the vocal prowess of course, was fairly deafening, and not in a good way. The music was way to stretched out to apply across the bars and the vocals at times were quite pitchy. There is really nothing to see here.
