One of the hardest workers in the Rock industry is the bass player/singer/songwriter that answers to the name Glenn Hughes. With a magnificent career from DEEP PURPLE to BLACK SABBATH to numerous solo projects and solo albums Hughes still rocks...or should I say funks?

Glenn Hughes released his twelfth solo studio album, this time from Frontiers Records and it is called First Underground Nuclear Kitchen or F.U.N.K.. You don't have to be a fortune teller to understand that this is a work that has as main element Glenn's Funk & Soul music influences.

Vocally, Hughes sounds really good with a strong dose of James Brown and old-Stevie Wonder in his funky expressions. Musically the album is exactly what it says F.U.N.K.; Nothing more, nothing less. Of course, the addition of a magnificent drummer as Chad Smith (RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS) is what a Funk record needs. Chad Smith brought his unique sound and with Hughes's ability on bass, they created a flexible rhythm section that elevates the final result.

 
The song that I could pick out from F.U.N.K., and the one that can match my Rock feelings is Love Communion. The rest are of old-fashioned Funk music that just is not inside Metal Temple's line of duty.

I know that Glenn Hughes has faithful fans and a strong fanbase and I'm sure they've already experienced Glenn's Funk point of view on music by buying this CD. The rest of you must decide if you want to take a bite from Glenn Hughes's First Underground Nuclear Kitchen, but I do not think it's healthy to do that.
