I am proud to present to you: SUN CROW; signed via Ripple Music, hailing from the United States of America - performing Doom Metal, on their debut album entitled: "Quest For Oblivion" (released July 2nd, 2021). The quartet in question have only this here debut album in their discography so far entitled: "Quest For Oblivion" 7 tracks ranging at around 01:10:26; SUN CROW arranges an intricately designed formula on some heavy-hitting Doom Metal developments.

Opening up with an gnarly element of distortion that resembles an apocalyptic embodiment; "Collapse" fabricates a distinctive calamity in rampantly rompy rhythms that distil a flamboyant distribution on sulfurous yet solid slabs of punchy meatiness, until this thunderous barrage in groovy panache profusely ramifies this weighty tightness on rigorous vigour & grimy harmonies that pump out piercing pandemonium with ruthless snares amongst a boisterously bouncy heft followed by shouty raspiness from consisting vocalist Todd Lucas - who showcases throaty pipes while old school heaviness embodies a grumbling attribute while sturdy thuds rumble with reverberating laceration.

"Black It Out" thumps out piledriving bass audibility from Brian Steel who scours with steely precision; where primitively raw finesse and clobbering expertise gravitates a chunky frenzy on organic substance, monolithic tempos & quintessential virtuosity. Which revolves around a hybrid experimentation on rapidly swift nimbleness, blistering firepower and concrete grittiness for your speakers to tremble to. The songs are spaced out between 5-10 minutes long or longer, this is Doom Metal tradition that snarls with a borderline aesthetic on vibrantly potent synergy as crunchy distortion distils a drony chisel on amplified adrenaline and frolicking chugs impactfully injects an infectiously venomous systematic on thumpy flickers and distinguished harmonies that manifest with striking pursuits with rambunctious pummelling - especially in "End Over End".

The previous belter bludgeons eardrums with old school BLACK SABBATH-esque riffage, where the Heavy Metal vibes merges with that Doom Metal atmosphere bloody well. The trailblazing swampiness of it all investigates immersively dense grinds that slays with rocking swerve, vervacious soars & ripping revs from dynamically dextrous guitarist Ben Nechanicky. Rifting with methodical trance, prodigious yet prestigious remedy and grovelling hooks that ramify with uniquely versatile vehemence while stomping with strong stridency to boot. Another banger: "Fell Across The Sky" mounts with towering tonality, while still managing to smack you with jumpy firepower and radical yet tenacious wickedness which your neck will be incredibly thankful for.

Hammering drummer Keith Hastreiter rambunctiously pummels the set with piledriving rumpage, stampeding with slamming systematics while progressively technical stomps revel with choppy chunkiness. "Fear" is one of the shorter revs, where complexly constructive hymns forges hardened but filthy frets while thick rhythms hastefully exhilarate with speedy & shouty yells for good measure. "Nothing Behind" immediately had me thinking of MÖTORHEAD a little bit, the rock 'n' roll melody mingling with thrashing stability really gets heads rolling persistently - fusing doomy contortion steadily is utterly brilliant.

The penultimate epic: "Hypersonic" fabricates fuzzy, doom-blues-esque contrast while blood-curdling screams share this primal oddysee of hypnotic but discordant instrumentals which repel with swirling panache & outrè vivacity. Overall concluding "Quest For Oblivion" with the finale epic "Titans" which is a long bruiser in belting creativity, starting off with this feverish but eerie acoustic until more outbursting upheaval marvels with punky sludginess which entices a fitting end for a record of this slow but thick-paced caliber in bashful yet sublime chaos.

Bottom line; I am compelled to say that SUN CROW most certainly outdone themselves with this ripper, an abrasive but fluidly polished shredder that most surely deserves a good handle of repeated spins, while maybe long-winded...it was still a grandeur listen in which unleashed this mesmerising trait upon me. An enjoyably entertaining experience which all fans of this sub-genre would be pleasantly surprised to zone out to. Worth the listen, check it out.
