Day Of The Jackal

"Day Zero" is the first release from DAY OF THE JACKAL, a bluesy soulful rock group from Leeds, together since 2015, a fusion of 70's Rock and the Blues, "Day Zero" is a great debut. The 10-track album begins with "On Your Own" which ignites your senses with the powerful guitar intro and the freshness of the vocals. It's a song that is both familiar yet unknown, like the band has been in your playlist rotation for years, a well-rounded opening track leading you through a blues infused rock album that demands to be heard.
"Rotten To The Core" digs deeper into the Classic Rock sound bringing the bigger riffs and strong chorus that resonates with the 70's era rock of AC/DC and KISS, yet adds a new take on the sound, an updated feel if you will. Guitars don't overpower the track, the vocals blend well with the music, both standing out on their own, leaning on each other yet not taking away from what each are trying to do.
"Afterburn" is a rough and gritty power chord led rock anthem leaving nothing to question. DAY OF THE JACKAL and their early AC/DC sound solidifies them as the future of Rock and Roll. The band is bursting with talent, have an understanding of what Rock and Roll is and was, and what it should be.
"Day Zero" is only the introduction to DAY OF THE JACKAL. They appear familiar at the surface, from the first track I felt like I could identify who they were, what they were, yet at the end of the album, I felt like, I had no idea, and wanted to hear more, know more making "Day Zero" only the beginning of what DAY OF THE JACKAL has to offer. The future is wide open, the pedal is on the floor and the destination is clear-Rock and Roll domination is the goal.
