Cats In Space - Atlantis album cover

If you long for that older rock sound, but still want a touch of the new, then this album may be just for you. A little bit of information from their Facebook page reveals that CATS IN SPACE is a classic rock group with a slight dash of AOR Power Pop. Having released 4 studio albums since 2015, they are no stranger to their craft and are coming at us here with a very well thought out and performed album. "Atlantis" was released on November 27th and has a wide variety of songs to satisfy your classic rock palate.

"Dive!" starts off the album with a very intriguing tone; sirens blaring, ocean waves crashing, all breaking away into a powerful classic rock introduction. With the drums beating and the guitars wailing, this introduction leads us ever so graciously into the second track of the album, "Spaceship Superstar". On this track, you will hear many wonderful sounds. From the voice of the lead vocals, to the drums and guitars in the background, plus some powerful guitar solos, everything in this song ties together in a powerful way. It is apparent that the band holds onto that melodic power that is needed in a good classic rock album, not just on this song, but on all of them.

Continuing on, we come across "Sunday Best", which is a very upbeat addition to this album. Being that this album touches on many of the harsh realities we are facing in society today, this song comes in to remind us of all the beauty that there is still to be seen in the world. It is followed by "Listen To The Radio", which is a song to remind us of the beauty of music, which you will find plenty of when listening to this song. Beautiful piano and vocals all tied together with a very melodic but straightforward and powerful rock tune; this song is sure to remind you that music is an important part of life.

"Marionettes" is a great example of a song with a deep message. Listen to the words, and you will hear a story that may sound ever so similar with the current state of people blindly following. I won't go too much into detail, but throughout this song you are given a strong sense of urgency, something that needs fixing, and a sound that will keep you coming back for more. The guitars and drums thrown in, along with sounds that seem out of this world, make this a song that is sure to have you deep in thought about the current states of people's lives.

If you are looking for a classic rock album with a little bit of pop thrown in, along with a lot of personal flair, the CATS IN SPACE new album has come to you just in time. ATLANTIS is sure to blow you away.
