...This Suffering
Echidna

It is not much time since I reviewed a very good demo from a Greek underground Death Metal band named RAW IN SECT. Now, the Greek underground scene sends me one more demo from a Death Metal band. This is their first work and so I will carefully examine what they have to deliver to the hungry for some quality music audience.
This time it is not Athens that provides us with an underground Metal band, but it is Thessaloniki, the second city that features many great Metal bands like HOMO IRATUS, BULL DOZA and many more. Anyway, 2006 finds ECHIDNA releasing their first ever work entitled This Suffering, a 4 track demo CD with approximately 23 minutes of melodic and technical Death Metal.
ECHIDNA's music is characterized by its unique sound and its weird mixture of different kinds of Metal. While listening to This Suffering, I came across some ICED EARTH elements that make the band's Death Metal a bit more powered! ROTTING CHRIST are also one of the band's main influences, as well as the high and mighty DEATH (RIP), who have injected their middle eastern melodies right into ECHIDNA's veins! Some times groovy and other times fast and relentless, the band shows that they have many aces up their sleeve for the near future.
The sound is raw, as Death Metal has to be, but it seems that the guitars should sound a bit better. The bass is really good, as well as the bassist who has enriched the songs with some really clever bass lines. ECHIDNA show that they still have a lot to give to the Greek Death Metal scene, but they definitely have to work hard in order to improve and make something that sounds good sound a lot better.
