Slit Your Gods - Dogmatic Convictions of Human Decrepitude album cover

The most and brutal forms of Death Metal still have an appeal to the new generations. As it was in the past, names as SUFFOCATION, CANNIBAL CORPSE and many others still are strong influences for new bands. And from Spain, a quintet that seems to have the need to play music to smash brains and corrode ears: SLIT YOUR GODS. And the experience of its members flows on the songs of "Dogmatic Convictions of Human Decrepitude".

It's just the same technical and brutal form of playing Death Metal, with all those elements that make the fans' hearts pulse with happiness (and can damage the inner parts of the ears of the neighbors). And although this formula was used many times in the past, it works in the hands of the quintet due the personal way of doing things. The brutal music they unleash is full of energy, but there are some parts with Latin groove appearing (as can be heard on "Scapulars of Human Decay"). The rest is to hear this EP and risk your ears. The production worked in a way that made the songs loud and clean, with defined instrumental tunes. But have in mind: it's a Brutal Death Metal release, so the aggressiveness and brutality are at high levels, so be prepared for a musical onslaught and to see the walls trembling!

Santi Gzlez is the one who mixed and mastered the album. It's not bad, trying to emulate the organic sound of the past. But their music needs a more powerful and aggressive sound, because the search for something organic and clean made things sound a bit hollow. It's clean and can be understood, but it could be better.

"Cult of Supreme Blasphemy" is a traditional song for a Brutal Death Metal band, with fast tempos, refined technique and a bone crushing work on the rhythm (what makes bass guitar and drums work in great shape). The same features appear again on the savage musical onslaught called "Dragged by the Cross", another great work from bass guitar and drums, but shaped by technical guitars. And the ferocious and nasty "Scapulars of Human Decay" closes this EP with a very good work from the vocals, along with some Latin groove moments on the rhythm (that can remind what SEPULTURA used on some moments on "Chaos A.D."), and very good guitar solos.

"Dogmatic Convictions of Human Decrepitude" is really a very good work, and I hope that SLIT YOUR GODS can some back as soon as possible with a full length!
