Æeqiizoiikum
Khthoniik Cerviiks
Metal maniacs, rejoice! I am proud to present to you: KHTHONIIK CERVIIKS; signed via Iron Bonehead Productions, hailing from the glory of Germany - performing Death/Black Metal, on their sophomoric album entitled: "Æeqiizoiikum" (released July 17th, 2020).
Since formation in 2013; the trio in question have 3 Demos entitled: "Rehearsal 2013" (released September 2013); "Promo 2014" (released May 2014), and "Heptaëdrone" (released August 14th, 2014). A Split entitled: "With Gangrene Edges/Voiidwarp" (released in July 10th, 2017), and 2 Full-Length Albums entitled: "Serologiikal Scars (Vertex Of Dementiia)" (released December 2nd, 2015), and this here second album that I am introduced to entitled: "Æeqiizoiikum". 8 tracks ranging at around 44:16; KHTHONIIC CERVIIKS arrange an intricately designed formula of some heavy-hitting Melodic Death/Black Metal amalgamations.
Beginning the record with the opening yet otherworldly static introduction called: "KC Exhalement 4.0 (Welcome to HAL)"; KHTHONIIC CERVIIKS mesmerise your soul with this shroud of spellbinding yet spacey profanities, this scientific lobotomy articulates the usage of computerised atmosphere...inducing an electrifying lead that will shock your eardrums into the mass noise homicide of blasphemous but blackened adrenaline entitled: "Odyssey 3000". Rattling your brains into a barraged but bleeding frenzy of monolithic yet meticulously melodious manifestations that surge with this overarching embodiments- immersing an intertwining extremity of scorching harmonies, and an atmospheric but evolving dose of heady Black/Death Metal which skyrockets with trailblazing pandemonium.
Consisting of Okkhulus Siirs on bass/vocals; the frontman excels at a gnarly attribute demonstrating an audible bass injection, infecting eardrums into a high-octane rumble of riveting speed & thumpy pummelling. While the vocals stem from deep, guttural growls with pipes that roar with shouty raspiness & throaty snarls which reverberate with shattering savagery. "Æequiizoiikum (Mothraiik Rites)" creates a chaotic blitzkrieg in chugging havoc; bleeding with wildly rushing madness, razor-sharp shredding stability from guitarist Khraâl Vri*ïl (also on additional background vocals) who nimbly swifts with rapid remedy. Showcasing quintessential virtuosity that thunders with solid grooves, executing a dynamic element implementing sonically seamless pursuits that strike with monstrously meaty maelstroms & this relentless boundary forging a borderline foundation of punchy tightness with jumpy mayhem that wonder with ruthlessly tempestuous thrashing...storming into a hybrid dimension of grinding contrast and killer lacerations of momentously primitive yet venomously volatile versatility.
"Δt (Recite the Kriitiikal Mæss)" supplies uniquely vehement dexterity; armed to the brim assembling this rampant arsenal of piledriving finesse, frolicking gallops pierces you with quirky snappiness & vibrantly potent synergies of outrè panache that organically subjugate triggering substance with rawly rough shrieks with this intense combust of progressively technical ramifications that revolve around a crushing kick of rambunctious yet drum hammering from battering ram Gharmonboziia. Who smashes the set with steely precision, revelling with stomping velocity & riveting stability while stampeding with skillful patterns that flow into a heated heft of salubriously zestful results - while merging prestigiously impactful grit into an evolving slab of ominously oscillating experimentation.
"Para-Dog-Son - Demagorgon" embellishes on more diligent blends of crunchy distortion, deadly brutality & crazily insane rituals of satanic slayings that distils a chiselling contrast of punishing mastery...romping up this upbeat yet prodegiously pulsating spectrum of rowdy headiness - establishing an eclectic frontal assault offering this profoundly sinister whiplashing that will make you want to break chairs over other chairs in a berserking but bulldozed rage of this weighty songwriting musicianship. Persevering with persistent systematics that unleashes this titanic whirlwind of quaking wrath, and an arbitrary ebb of neck-breaking malignancy.
"Kollektiing Koffiin Naiils (Délire Des Négations Sequence 1.0)" conjures an integral density of thick layers of towering rebellion, strifing through with methodical fundamentals in which wails with this roundhousing vortex of riffing majesty. While the vocals nail it in an anguishing distinction between bludgeoning aesthetics, and a groundbreaking attack in disturbingly distinguished characteristics that portray strong yet unholy vibrato patterns of rich...silver-lining extremities. The penultimate track: "Bloodless Epiiphany (Délire des Négations Sequence 2.0)" examines catchy chunkiness with memorable moments while uprooting with more uproarious rampaging, venomously pumping out droning but gripping and foreboding but epicly idiosyncratic expertise.
Overall concluding "Æeqiizoiikum" with the finale closing outro: "KC Inhalement 4.0 (Nothiing-Niihiil-Non)" which is a short segment similar to the intro; I am compelled to say that KHTHONIIC CERVIIKS certainly outdone themselves with this one.
Bottom line; "Æeqiizoiikum" is a hasty process of some hardened complexities, full of unprecedented surprises and it is just this great discovery full of boisterously bouncy ferocity and enjoyably entertaining experiences that sound refreshing yet incredibly flexible as well. Nothing short of linearity, but a healthy dose of some sulphurously sophisticated musical varieties will make you replay this one a good few times. Have a go!
