Dystopia
Damned Creed

While walking around the grounds of Texnopolis I came across one of the guys from DAMNED CREED who was more than kind to give me the band's debut release for a review. Dystopia was released last year but it never reached our hands for some unknown reason.
The Athenian metallers were formed in early 2006 and they spent one year preparing and recording songs that ended up in their debut EP Dystopia. I don't know anything about each member's musical past, but these guys show technical skills that make me believe that they are no newcomers. Just for your info, the band is planning to release its debut album in the autumn of 2008.
Musically, Dystopia is a mix of Thrash and Death Metal with some bits from the Core scene. Yeah, it is not something I hear for the first time and it definitely didn't manage to earn a new fan for DAMNED CREED. It is not that the music is bad; all four tracks are exactly what someone who likes this kind of music is searching for in a release. The fact is that this modern style of Thrash/Death Metal is not what I consider to be let's say ‘quality music'. Sorry, but that's my opinion.
For people who are into this scene, Dystopia will offer many up tempo moments with nice drumming and shredding guitars, as well as beatdown stuff for a groovy break. Check it out only if this ‘modern' stuff appeals to you. Otherwise there are better releases for you out there.
