Tragedy of Delusion

METEORA is a 5-Piece Symphonic Metal band from Budapest, Hungary. This is their second full-length album and first since ''Our Paradise'' that came out back in 2017. They did release a single for ''My Reality'' in late 2019, it was a prelude for things to come. I do believe this is the first time I write a review about a band from Hungary and I honestly don't know much about their metal scene.
The lyrical content is great and it's one the forces of this band. The name of the album is not left to randomness. What is ''Tragedy of Delusion'', well it's living in your own reality, maybe a video game, maybe your own science-fiction. You ignore the reality to substitute your own and when all comes crashing down (and it hurts inside....cue Hulk Hogan theme), it's pretty much a tragedy. You are left in disarray, you feel lost and depressed. You live in your own bubble and when that bubble bursts, you feel disconnected. Sometimes people want to ignore real life but at the ends, it's going to hurt when it's all done with.
I really loved the message in ''Stay Among Us'', it's like a plea to stay grounded, not stray off the path, to not get influenced by something else. It's people trying to help out someone that is disillusioned and sometimes people just don't want that help. If someone does not want to help himself, it's tough to help out this lost soul in eternity. This conveyed something a lot of people have face lately obviously. Sometimes you want to live in the past, past glory, past love and you have these memories to hold on (spoken profoundly in ''Memento Mori'') and grasping to that past can hurt you much more than you think and can utterly destroy you from the inside.
The album is an absolute love letter to the genre, beautiful and powerful female vocals with a energetic rhythmic section. You have to have a great singer in this genre, you may have the best musicians in the world, yet you need that guiding light to lead and Hollo Noemi does a nice job. You have the dual vocalists, the beautiful female vocals and the growls. I know its something we hear a lot in Symphonic Metal bands and its unoriginal at best. It's not too over present so that's a pretty good thing. The lyrical content yet powerful message outweighs those minor inconveniences and it makes for a solid album.
I would have skipped that LINKIN PARK cover honestly, the song and band hasn't aged that well as a number of bands of that era. They did a fine job and hell, the name of the band is METEORA, which is a name of one of their albums, I really don't know if there is a connection between both but I wouldn't be surprised.
