On March 27th, 2020, ENEPSIGOS will release their second album "Wrath of Wraths." ENEPSIGOS is a Norwegian black metal band. They were formed in 2016 by V.I.T.H.R and Thorns to be a studio project. With Straff on guitars and bass, they released their debut album "Plague of Plagues" in 2017. On "Wrath of Wraths," Straff is replaced by Rituul. On this album, ENEPSIGOS aimed for a dark, disgusting, and twisted sound. They have certainly achieved it. This isn't symphonic, atmospheric, or melodic. It's pure hatred and vitriol spewing forth into your ears.

The first track is "Shields of Faith." A minute in, the unholy ruckus begin. The gnarly vocals of V.I.T.H.R snarl through the constant black metal riffs. Blast beats play a major part, but intermittently, there is a more complex drum pattern. The bass line is audible at certain parts, though I wish the tone had less of a twang to match the mood of the music. The following track is "Confess." The constant drone of the guitar and the blast beat create this wall of sound, but with an evil atmosphere. Jarring guitar chords appear throughout the song, adding to the profoundly evil sound.

With the third track "Seventh Seal," ENEPSIGOS shows that they can play at a much slower pace without losing the hateful atmosphere. The slow pace draws you into a dark trance. A little over halfway, the pace increases again. It culminates with technically proficient displays from Rituul. "The Whore is the Temple" is next. It is another fast one, though there are passages with slower tempos and a greater focus on groove. It is still incredibly violent music, especially with the sample of a poor lady screaming towards the end of the track. If you have read my review this far, I guess I spoiled it for you!

The fifth track "Cups of Anger" starts with a slow, driving groove again rather than with ear shattering riffs. Discordant sounds from the guitar lend an aura of eeriness. As a brief respite, quiet chimes, chanting, and a singing choir appear abruptly in the middle of the track. Afterwards, the sonic assault continues. The closing track is "Water and Flesh." It's a lengthy one at nine minutes long. However, it's quite a journey through hellish soundscapes.

Overall, I recommend this album. ENEPSIGOS has crafted an album that conjures up images of the deepest levels of hell and the darkest rituals.
