Desaster - 666 - Satan's Soldiers Syndicate album cover

Even though I was not aware of this band, I found out that it is pretty old and features some interesting members. The underground revolution is starting to offer many Metal gems, but DESASTER surely do not belong to the gem category. I can say that I found 666 - Satan's Soldiers Syndicate to be a bit boring.

The German metallers are alive since 1988 and feature members from cult bands like METALUCIFER and METAL INQUISITOR (in fact the drummer has played in those two bands). Now it is time for them to release their sixth (if I am not mistaken) full-length album.

DESASTER's music is a kind of blackened Thrash Metal that is based on the principles of bands like early SODOM, DESTROYER 666, CELTIC FROST and HELLHAMMER. Their music features nothing that can be described as modern, not even the sound. 666 - Satan's Soldiers Syndicate is like it came straight from the 80's! In my humble opinion, if it was released back then it would be a more than great album and it could even be considered as a classic one today. The fact is that the 21st century's Metal scene has much more things to offer.

Cool - yet common - music with a just mediocre production is not something that would make me spend my money. I think that being retro can be good sometimes, but some other times it is like it is there just to be there. In no way I am trying to say that DESASTER is a bunch of macho guys trying to be true. Their cult status doesn't need any confirmations from me. The good thing is that they make Metal Blade release some Metal CD's and not only Metalcore crap.
