Always Is never The Same
Dead City Riots

DEAD CITY RIOTS belongs to Casket Music and I knew right from the start what music does this band play (ok, not exactly). This album could be characterized with many words that usually sound a bit weird and non-Metal to the Metal audience. Keep your ears and especially your mind open, or else this review won't make any sense to you...
DEAD CITY RIOTS were formed in 2001 by David and Paul and were formerly known as FREEVIEW. Chris and Cameron joined the band later. They have released two EP's on their own. In 2006, Casket Music signed them and the same year, Always Is Never The Same was released.
So, Always Is Never The Same is this band's debut album. Judging by the song titles it was obvious that I had to deal with a Hard Rock release or something like that. Finally, I realized that Always Is Never The Same can be described as a Grunge release, with Grunge not being a negative word to describe this release. It seems that some bands are able to avoid the stupid style of Grunge (call me NIRVANA) and present a really pleasant hard rocking style that is something more than interesting. Their music is pretty close to bands such as FOO FIGHTERS, FU MANCHU, SOUNDGARDEN, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS and QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE. The production is really nice and helps the twelve tracks of this album shine a bit more. Since I know that most of the metalheads out there have a not so good opinion on this kind of music, I will have to tell you that in my opinion, no matter what kind of music appeals to you the most (I am not talking about pop shit and irrelevant stuff of course), you will definitely like this album.
Always Is Never The Same is an album that achieves to mix its positive vibe with the rawness of its riffing. I really enjoyed listening to this album! My opinion, go get it. Just think about it carefully before buying it! You must have an open mind to listen to this stuff!
