Luca Sellitto - The Voice Within album cover

In the 80's, the fusion between Classic Music with Metal bloomed. Besides Ritchie Blackmore can be traced as the godfather of the genre, Randy Rhoads and Yngwie J. Malmsteen are the ones who took it to another level. But "Rising Force" and "Marching Out" became cornerstones for Neoclassical Metal (a music that mix Classic Music technique with Hard Rock/Heavy Metal intense guitar shredding), and influenced many guitar players. And the Italian guitarist Luca Sellitto (from STAMINA) can be said as one of them. But don't let these words deceive you, because "The Voice Within" has a lot of to offer to you all.

It can be said as a work in the vein of RAINBOW (during Dio years) and YNGWIE J. MALMSTEEN'S RISING FORCE, a strong and thunderous Heavy Metal/Hard Rock album with intense technical approach on the guitars (of course). But it's not boring, or even is repeating what is already known. It pulses with energy and personality, and great and hooking melodies. And the guests, who worked with Yngwie J. Malmsteen, Joey Tempest, John Norum, ROYAL HUNT, EVIL MASQUERADE and others are proof of an album that must be heard at any cost. All tracks were mixed and mastered by Fabio Calluori and Luca Sellitto (who produced the album, of course), but even with focus of Neoclassic Metal being the guitars, on the album everything can be heard fully, without prejudice. And it's really a great sonority that "The Voice Within" presents.

"Second to None" is filled with excellent melodies and instrumental technique, but what wonderful vocals and chorus, and the same occurs on "Land of the Vikings" (being this one a bit slower than the previous one, and what a solid work from bass guitar and drums), "What If?" has a deep commercial appeal, but what great chorus and vocals (and a great 80's ambiance), and besides being a bit aggressive, the melodies of "Shadows of Love" are catchy as well, with charming keyboards. And "Into the Light" has a Rock 'n' Roll essence (with some piano touches) that brings it near to what Glam Metal was at its beginning (and great vocals once more). Oh, you're waiting for words about the guitars? Just hear the instrumental songs "Étude", "The Champion's Code" and "Tearful Goodbye", and listen to what means to play Neoclassic Metal in a way that is technical, melodic and not boring in any moment. Yes, all the songs are truly great!

Well, all that's left to say about "The Voice Within" is: I hope it's just the beginning of a career for Luca, because it's a great album!
