The Tex Avery Syndrome

THE TEX AVERY SYNDROME hails from Frankfurt Germany, and is releasing their first full-length album next month titled "Origin", following their EP release "Wolfcity" in 2016. Sometimes dubbed as "Germany's wacko metal band" this five piece group seems to be a big fan of American cartoonist Tex Avery as his name serves as a partial name of the band.
The album starts with the track "Long Desert Run" and it pushes with some melodic guitars and raspy yet aggressive vocals. It starts out with a voice recording and then jumps into the record. "Circle around the Sun" starts the same way with a cartoon recording but the vocals take a slight turn and shift towards more of a Hardcore style. This is where I start to see Laura Gierl's vocal ranges. Lots of pitch harmonics throughout, and breakdowns add to the hardcore influenced track. "Life is for the Living" has some catchy breakdown parts and has more of an exploding intro than the tracks before it.
"Disillusion" is an instrumental track that has a melodic slow feel and a bass line that'll get you in the groove. One of the bands singles titled "Pulling Teeth" is featuring vocalist Brock Lindow from 36 CRAZY FISTS and the track kicks off with a raw vocal intro from Laura Gierl and an acoustic guitar; while the drums slowly make their way through accompanied with more of an alternative guitar sound beside them. Brock Lindow comes in with his vocals a little after the halfway mark. "Closure" starts out with another cartoon intro and some more low aggressive growls. Other than the anthem rhythm style guitars, nothing else stands out here from the other songs. The ending track "Betrayer" has a Classic Rock influence along with a pleasant bass line. There's a little surprise at the end of the track, but I'm not going to spoil it for you. Just listen to the track all the way through and you'll see what I'm talking about.
After listening to this album I feel like I heard a lot of recycled riffs throughout the entire thing. They sound similar to American Metal band KILLWHITNEYDEAD with their rough low growls, and use of recordings in the beginning of their songs. Not exact, because they change it up with their use of classic rock and hardcore musical influences but that is just my opinion. They are a talented bunch though. You'll just have to check them out for yourself when "Origin" drops October 4th via Noizegate Records.
