Who are these guys? It is the first time I hear about them. Ah, never mind. That's what internet is for. I will search to find some info about them. What? Melodic Death Metal? They don't sound like a Death Metal band to me! Anyway, their music is much better than I expected it to be. Judging by the cover, I thought I had to face a Progressive Metal band.
Chosen is an Irish band that has up to now followed a kind of strange path. They have released three EP/Demo CD's (including this one) up to now, all by themselves. Don't they want to enter a record label? I don't think it is because they didn't have a good contract proposal up to now. I have listened to awful bands that have a contract. Strange things... Anyway, as I said before, this is their third self-financed release and I admit that it is not bad at all!
This EP/Demo CD release consists of four tracks full of power, passion, technique and aggression. Those guys sound really passionate with what they are doing. The production isn't the best possible but it is a very good one for a demo CD. Chosen mix elements of different kinds of aggressive music with Progressive Metal touches. The vocals vary from heavy to melodic clean. The good thing about these guys is that you cannot clearly define where do they exactly belong. That's what I like in a band, when it avoids the categorization and evolves into something progressive with the pure meaning of the word. Anyway, there are not many things to say about those guys since there are only four tracks in this CD and I haven't listened to anything they have released before. I just hope that they will decide to release a full-length album sometime in the near future so I can have a clearer view on their work.
If you are always searching for new and different stuff, you will definitely find this CD interesting. As for me, I can't say that I was amazed, but I wasn't bored for a single second, too. Give it a try...
