Phantasma
Cemetary

I don't know what's more disappointing: Thinking where the heck a band you used to like is or discovering that their new release sucks big time. I recall Cemetary from their second album, Black Vanity, released back in 1994, a release I really liked. Sadly, I lost track of the band after the album and I only managed to listen to three or four songs from their next release (I think).
What I do know is that the band hadn't released an album in five years and that was since The Beast Divine (under the moniker Cemetary 1213) back in 2000. I never disagreed with the tagline music evolution but give me a break! Where is the cool dark / Metal / Gothic combination Cemetary used to play? Where are the rhythmical guitars and the nice solos?
I read some reviews on the net mentioning this as Industrial / Gothic / Metal. Sorry but the Metal of the whole story is at least insulting. Unless you consider Marilyn Manson to be Metal or just because some noisy guitars exist here and there justify the exploitation of the term Metal music. As for Gothic and Industrial... yeah, there's a lot of it in here but should I give a damn? A fan of Cemetary buys this album for THAT sound? Why didn't they change their name? Can you imagine Jag Panzer releasing an ambient album? I wouldn't mind if they did such a thing but damnit, don't exploit your band's name and history. Maybe if this album was released under a different name then only friends and relatives would have bought it.
If there's one thing interesting in here, it's the production that happens to be really good. Also, the front cover is very nice (but the rest of the artwork sucks). In times difficult for our financial status the purchase of such an album would be as important as camel meat flavored condoms. Avoid this release in the name of all that is good in Metal music.
