This is a case of a nestling grunge British band, cleverly calledBullets For Teeth, who played live gigs back in their hometown, until they decided to give it a try and send out copies of their work (hmm, that's a story I've never heard before). Casket/Copro records responded and gave them the opportunity. It all turned out great and they lived happily ever after. Or not.
Bullets For Teeth were formed in early 2003. Here we have their first release. Additional guitar and mandolin on this album was played by engineer/ producer/ mastering man Pete Brown, known from his work with Anathema, among others. The newest addition to the lineup is bassist Stew. The recordings took place at Philia Studios (Stampin' Ground, Earthtone9).
Question: didn't Grunge die along with Kurt 10 years ago? I thought Grunge was dead, guys. I guess I was wrong. According to their bio info, they sound like Staind and Alter Bridge. I honestly wouldn't know because I've never heard of them. Bullets For Teeth got me really confused, I admit. It's not a bad album, they sound professional, they sound honest. There are some really great songs in this album (Something's Black is a beautiful, melodic track and C'nut, a really powerful one). But, I don't know, there's something missing in this whole effort. Unfortunately it's not the crappy cover-art that's missing...
While listening to this 10-track album, I got a little bored but like I said earlier, it's not a bad album (oh mon dieu, I'm losing it.). Then what the hell is wrong with these guys, you'll ask. Nothing's wrong, I finally conclude. It's just mediocre.
