Lady Beast - Metal Immortal album cover

Lady Beast is an American band who hail from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The collective have been active since 2009 and have successfully released a full-length album along with two EP's, one of which I am preparing to talk about right now.

The first EP, entitled "Lady Beast", came out 3 years after their formation. Their full-length album, entitled "Lady Beast 2" was released in 2015, and their latest effort, "Metal Immortal" saw light just a few months ago, in 2016. The latter EP consists of 4 songs, and was released on October 15th, last year, via Infernö Records.

The first song, "Lady Beast-Metal Martyr", starts off with some pretty classic Heavy Metal riffs and some classic drumming, and there's even a short guitar solo before the vocals make their appearance. As the vocals kick in they are completely audible, crystal clean, sharp and old school Heavy Metal vocals...but there's a twist, the vocalist isn't some dude, but a beautiful woman, and she has been singing in the band since the very start. The vocals are incredible and remind you a lot of the classic bands from the 80's; such as JUDAS PRIEST. There are also some longer screams in the first song, which were clearly influences by IRON MAIDEN. The lyrics are too are pretty understandable; I believe that I could clearly make out the part where she sings: "Metal will live forever".

Well, the band's EP also has a pretty clear message Metal is immortal, obviously. More classic vocals and riffing can also be heard in the 2nd song, which is called "Devils Due". This one begins with a little Thrash influenced riff, not too much, but it's a mixture of pure heaviness and energy. The song goes for over a minute and then the long vocals kick in, and they are beautiful, but epic at the same time too. Things get a little bit faster around the 2nd minute where the vocals and the screams get longer and longer - or let's say higher; that stuff requires some serious talent indeed.

The 3rd song, "Lady Of The Battle" begins with a relaxing guitar riff, but things soon get completely out of hand with some powerful solos and the chilly vocals. I'm serious, if I didn't have the information about the band's lineup, I would have most certainly thought that the vocalist is male. The vocals do indeed gets better and better from song to song. These guys definitely like their guitar solos, given that every song has at least two or three, which is a normal thing in this genre; it 's no wonder they have 3 guitarists.

Off to the 4th song, "Not This Time", which also begins with endless and countless riffs, and the vocals only kick in around the first minute, but when they do arrive, they are absolutely beastly.

You will feel both physically and mentally powerful after blasting this record on volume, and if you are a fan of classic Heavy Metal, definitely give this band a shot, you won't regret it!
