SUSPIRAL is a self-defined Death Metal Band from Spain, who got their start in 2014. Whilst the genre they declare on their Facebook description (Death Metal) might seem pretty basic on the surface, this EP has some elements of Psychedelic and Melodic Metal. This three track, thirty-three minute epic dives deep into the abyss of the mysteries after death and punches you in the gut with pitch-black music.

"Poisonous Essence" is a hauntingly surreal track, opening with a guitar wail like the pained shrieks of a spectre in the night; grunting, howling roars follow, punctuating the rapid-paced guitar work. It's a brutal but smooth piece that makes you feel engulfed in darkness, as if wandering through a crypt without light, only guided by the Black Metal played by damned souls, calling you to join them down in the depths. "Poisonous Essence" is a bleak, cold, unyielding, and unapologetic plunge into the anteroom of death - the parlour, where you stop in for a breather before taking the next steps into the greater house of death.

"Hiereía Deúro" is a faster and more severe piece, serving as an introduction to the chaotic forces beyond death and the intensity of the mystery it holds. The vocalisations here are like the ragged breaths of a demon that's hunts for any lost soul sorry enough to stray into its domain. The guitar work is frantic, punctuated by drumbeats that sound like feet that pound into the ground in a terrified attempt to escape from death.

"The Art of Death" follows the trend of growing intensity with more haunting ghostly wails and a sense of harsh reality creeping in on a desperate soul hoping to avoid the inevitable void that he knows must await us all.

This somewhat short EP still delivers a full punch and doesn't hold back on the morbid, gritty, bleakness that typifies Black Metal.
