SHIRAZ LANE was originally born in 2011, but wasn't solidified until 2015 when the current line-up was established. SHIRAZ LANE comes storming in from Vantaa, Finland fitting into the rock genre. However, when I mention rock I mean hair band and AREOSMITH along with some heavier sounds of AMORPHIS and CHILDREN OF BODOM. "For Crying Out Loud" is the first full-length album from this group, but there is a debut demo out there as well. "For Crying Out Loud" comes in with ten tracks and a bonus with a listening time of a hair under fifty-three minutes.
The opening track, "Wake Up" starts with an instrumental intro that lasts about twenty seconds and it comes in hard and fast. Then the lungs of Kett come howling in. This opening track gives a great introduction to what the listener can expect. There is a lot of energy, melody, and with both a lead and rhythm guitar there is a two-sided sound that come together perfectly. "House Of Cards" is a little darker track. Lowers vocals, lower guitars, and the combination of the bass and drums have captured a more radio ready sound, even with its more dim sound. You can hear within the vocals an accent that is not so thick as it is noticeably threaded throughout the entire album, but here it is a bit more noticeable.
Track six, "Mental Slavery" starts dark and low with some great bass and guitar combinations while still keeping an up-beat tempo. The vocals come shooting in. This track is fun not only for the musical elements it presents, but also the lyrical elements within. It's a "fuck you" to the status quo. The most notable track is "Behind The 8-Ball". The intro isn't completely original, however, there is an undertone to it that makes it utterly unique. It starts slow and builds in strength to about the first minute mark. The harmony and melody and blues that encompass this track make it different from the overall flow of the album, but it's a lovely change of pace. This is a perfectly crafted track.
The original close out to this album is track ten, "M.L.N.W.". It starts of slower and keeps a slower tempo keeping up with the thought of the title of the track "Make Love Not War". This is another track that I enjoy not only the musical aspects but the lyrical meanings as well. The shifts in soft and hard and slow and fast create a wonderful diversity of elements not only for an album but also for one track. This is a beautiful track to end the album on.9/10
