LORD VIGO is a German band that is releasing their first EP called "Under Carpathian Sun". They describe themselves like "A vague chimera of sound, the army of angry spirits has been reborn into the most psycho-reactive Doom formation of our times". Their influences are bands like CANDLEMASS, MANILLA ROAD, WITCHFINDER GENERAL and SOLITUDE AERTENUS. Resume: a Doom Metal band from Landstuhl. And the name of their first EP is "Under Carpathian Sun" and they released this album in this year by No Remorse Records.
The artwork image the style's band. Dark, sullen even the cover shows a sunny landscape. The production is balanced and clean but the strength necessary in Doom Metal wasn't forgotten here.
With themes about the supernatural, obscure, LORD VIGO surprised me with their song. I must confess I'm not the right person to talk about this style - I really don't like Doom Metal - but they showed me that I might be my mind and ears open because the good music is everywhere.
With contagious, despite a super dark atmosphere in their tracks, they took me by surprise, because I thought I would listen something boring. The instrumental is impeccable and the obscure instrumental with mystic elements are present in every song here in "Under Carpathian Sun". You can't skip no tracks and enjoy the entire album.
The highlights here are "Terror Witchcraft" and the longest "The Arrival" making an epic and talented Doom Metal that makes you listen "Under Carpathian Sun" many times without get boring. The vocals by Vinz Clorthro are amazing and the strength made by the band balance with his voice.
If you want to listen a different Doom metal band, listen to LORD VIGO and their first EP. This band has a great way in the future if they keep playing the same style in "Under Carpathian Sun".<
