Agent Fresco - Destrier album cover

Before listening to AGENT FRESCO, my knowledge of bands in this genre was quite limited, now I feel like I have to listen to as much as I can possibly can!. A brilliant effort from this Icelandic band who are a relatively new band, formed in 2008, with 3 albums now under their belt, they fuse rock, pop, and alt metal into a quite unique blend and I feel they have certainly peaked with this album ''DESTRIER''. The band stand out on their own, but If I was to put a comparison on them then I would have to say they are, for me, a mix of their fellow countrymen SOLSTAFIR and the French synthetic pop duo AARON.

The first track on the album is ''LET THEM SEE US'', and talk about an introduction! It ropes you in with its fantastic melody and musicianship, clouded with many emotions ranging from anger and sadness, lie back close your eyes and let AGENT FRESCO take you on an emotionally draining voyage.

For me, the other stand out tracks on this album were ''DARK WATER'' and the single ''SEE HELL''. I found the lyrics to be thought-provoking, powerful and personal. It is truly a work of art and continues the artistic and intellectual lyrical themes of their second release ''A LONG TIME LISTENING''. Without being a full on melancholic album, the band also includes elements of joy and optimism, however this is really only evident in the musical construction of the songs; the lyrics tend to stick to the one theme, a theme which was chosen based on a violent  attack on vocalist ARNÓR DAN, he uses his experience to create this piece of art.

AGENT FRESCO certainly push all the right buttons with their latest release and I recommend to fans of, not just rock/metal, but to music fans in general, an album which is a must on your record shelf. It's a rarity to have an album which keeps you interested from the first second to the last, so do yourself a favour and make this a priority!. A band which have risen to the dizzy heights with this album and I have no doubt they will enjoy plenty of success in the coming years.

All Killer no Filler.<
