The amount of power ballads one can put in an album is limited; if of course it is not a compilation consisting of power ballads. Room Experience is a project of many obviously talented musicians that conspired to create one AOR/Melodic Rock album worth listening to.

The rating of 7 indicates this self-titled album has its good points, but unfortunately it's lesser good points. To be honest, this album has a slightly too smooth and silky touch to be rated higher than a 9. Coming with that is the 3 obvious power ballads, and the sometimes generic sound of the play overall.

"Shock Me" is one nice starter. A nice song, after which I would suspect more of the faster or harder workings. Of course, one could not expect the power ballad already making an appearance after "Tomorrows Came", a song my spell-check on my pc will not be satisfied with. The sound is good though. Very nicely layered, yet in a little note a listener-friendly song. There are almost no surprises. "Run To You", the power ballad, is very nice, but here, in my opinion, the sweetness is overdone. It is nice; it could break through as one of the most liked songs for around the fireplace during Christmas, when couples return to each other after business trips. Well, that is what I feel from it. The way it is put together, the way it is played and the lyrics are way too sweet. Not to be joked about, because the potential of this song is good. Yet, for the current audience, it might not be the right choice.

The continuation of this album is quite good. The sound is well rounded and fine-tuned to be smoothly inserted in one's ear. The second power ballad is "Another Day Without You"; another smooth and sweet thing. Comments would be the same as for "Run To You". It is just too radio-friendly. Not daring, just safe. The sound is good, and one could enjoy it very much, but there is no edge.

On the song "Not Yet Time For A Lullaby", you can find the, in my opinion, most daring part of the album. The outro. That music box sound that came forth and still leaves me with the doubt on whether this is one of the better outros of history, of one of the weirdest. The feeling is unsettling, so that is, to me, a small negative, but with the note of a positive twist.

After all, this album is nice, but somewhat generic and some might find it boring. The power ballads have a thing, but that might just have been the Achilles heel of it all. Hope you don't mind the rating because these guys have talent, and all people will think of it in their own way.<
