SEXTRASH is a Deathrash band from Brazil. "Sexual Carnage" is their first full length release, originally issued in 1990, and contains fifteen tracks. The sinister "Intro" has an almost Black Metal quality to it, with high pitched vocal screams, and the familiar one-step chord progressions, complete with church bells. From there the album picks up in pace and aggression.

"Psychoneurosis" is a blistering and tenacious track, powered by rocket fueled instrumentation and an eerie, macabre use of background effects. "Seduced by Evil" has a more traditional Thrash sound to it, and used some meter and riff changes to keep things interesting. "Obscene Symphony" is led by a more traditional riff approach, relying on the might and power of the instrumentation. The attack comes at you in bursts, and with minimal vocals. "Black Church" is another frenzied track with an evil sound in the air. As he screams out the title, an image of a black church is exactly what I can see. Not just black, but rotten with maggots, and swirling with images of unnatural death.

"Night Pigs" hears the return of some eerie background keys. I would have liked them to linger a bit longer, but they do make a nice effect with the music. If I am not mistaken, the final four tracks are added demo tracks to the original eleven. The production is not as clean and the music is much more raw. For not being much of Death Metal fan in the year 1990, this is fairly new to me. I must say that for the time, it sounds like a brutal and well performed blueprint for extreme music. There is an intermingling use of styles here but at its core, the music remains very raw and aggressive. One interesting note here is that many of the songs are quite short, almost by Punk music standards. I think it is because there is only so much energy and power you can fit into each track without them exploding.
