Ciccone Ritchie - Within Our Parameters album cover

No , it's not a review about a solo album by some related members of the Madonna's familly, in fact hidden behind this strange moniker there is a quator of musicians based around mighty Copenhagen, Denmark... They play a blend of Modern Hard Rock with some Alternative overtones and a few Prog Metal twists! Their debut album entitled 'Within Our Parameters',which was recorded at CB Studios with producer, Christian Bonde, and mastered by the highly renowned Alan Douches (KILLSWITCH ENGAGE / REVOCATION / PRONG / MOTORHEAD) is available since May 2014.

Their inclination to furnish some great harmonies is obvious, displayed again and again with great triumph all over the ten tracks of this album, their melodic temper is clearly their strongest asset, inspired by the American sound of the late 2000's with a tendency to find a quirky gimmick or a strange pattern in order to find a fresh dynamic pace

The well done layered vocal trick is working perfectly giving a thick identity, another sonic parameter is the groovy mania that make the whole sounding like a strange cross between a Metallized OFFSPRING meets THIRTY SECONDS TO MARS meets FREAK KITCHEN ("Lust Among Lies") meets early CREED. "Liars and Gallows " or "Sleep" are perfectly in concordance with my above comments and CICCONE RITCHIE's characteristic expression and energy!

And "FourDoubleSixSixFour" is the best cut by far, the most Progressive song recalling the great band ENGINE fronted by RAY ALDER (FATES WARNING / REDEMPTION). My only concern is about the relative similarities between the songs, indeed if the structures are differently crafted, the main specific tint remains in the same uniformity method ("Dear Ancestry") it's a little confusing in the course of the full listening experience.

The vocals are also in a repetitive, slightly defective style, although quite good and well performed it sounds a little safe, but i think i can make the reproach to most of the contemporary and the aforementioned bands.

CICCONE RITCHIE definitively holds a true distinguishing sound and they should work particularly on this in order to preserve this identity, but in the same time CICCONE RITCHIE should going for more diversity and expand its writing abilities to other band members.
