Wayfarer - Children Of An Iron Age album cover

Is it not funny how music is the only thing that can make time stand still? Every single one of us, entrapped by what o'clock it is, and what is next for us to do, yet every single day as music comes flooding out of my headphones or speakers I find myself not caring. Music sets us free, music alone is what unites the vast majority of us here on earth and it is reason behind many of the bonds we have with others. It is for this reason I am deeply saddened that people will not know what it is like to listen to an album such as this. Music gets into everything, it pours into every crevasse within your body, caressing the mind with its beauty.

When an album is put together well you feel it, when a band puts pours their hearts and soul into an album you know it. This exceptional album by WAYFARER is no different. "Children of an Iron Age" is an exceptional album, by what I feel is an exceptional band. They have pulled out all of the stops to deliver this album to their fans and with such a diverse sound it is hard not to love them. The post metal band became this sensational foursome in 2012 and have come a long way since then, being signed to Prosthetic records in August this year. After which they released "Children of the Iron Age" on November 24th.

Every single track on this album brings something different; it is by no means the same stuff you hear from the normal post metal bands that, if I'm honest, I am not a fan of. The fourth track for example, offers a wild western feel and sound, whilst still having the qualities of a metal song. It's a strange combination but it works really well so who am I to question what was running through their mind when it was produced. This album on the whole is somewhat quirky and I love that.

As well as the album, I am in love with their cover picture. I'm not sure what it is meant to be but from what I can see it looks like trees and bushes taking the form of an eyeball. It actually looks as if it belongs on the cover of a horror movie, and I feel this is quite comical. I do think we have seen album covers like this in the past but I think WAYFARER used it well and as I stated I do love it. I am someone who looks at the album cover as well as the music, as I think bands do have to be careful when picking album covers and I do feel this was a wise choice for them.

I have been listening to this album for a few days and I can say that I love it already, if you don't already know this band, you should listen to them, although perhaps in the future we'd like to see some clean vocals or heavier music...I cannot wait until their next album, and if it is anything like this, they will have made me a lifelong fan.<
