Energy Crisis

Old fashioned, good time Rock N' Roll doesn't tend to get a huge amount of attention these days. Sure, AC/DC can still pack the crowds in, but with the possible exception of AIRBOURNE, there's not been many new bands breaking through to a mass audience. Judging by the three songs on this EP though, WE'REWOLVES couldn't give a toss about current trends or market potential. They came to rock out and as a result, 'Energy Crisis' is deliriously enjoyable, even if nobody else pays it any attention.
This is high energy rock with a ramshackle production that doesn't care if your girlfriend just left you or you've had a bad day, it wants to get you drunk and have a great time. It sounds like it was recorded on a shoe string budget in a garage and is all the better for it. Guitar riffs fly thick and fast, the drummer pounds the absolute living shit out of his skins and the singer sounds like a lovechild of Lemmy and a younger Lemmy who just took an adrenaline shot straight to the heart.
It does help of course that this is only a three track EP and you have to wonder if they could maintain the pace over the course of an entire album, but if you don't grin from ear to ear all through "Screaming Murder" then your stereo isn't working properly.
Need a little help getting over the death of Robin Williams? Just pick up a tennis racket, put "Energy Crisis" on and air-guitar until you don't feel sadness anymore. This is a band who play gigs in small pubs and leave spilled booze and broken glass behind afterwards, ignore the rather silly names the band members go by, WE'REWOLVES are terrific.
