Imperium Dekadenz - Meadows Of Nostalgia album cover

2013 might be the year of Black Metal, and joining the ranks of great new Black Metal albums is "Meadows Of Nostalgia" by IMPERIUM DEKADENZ.  Black Metal from Black Forest, only the chocolate cake could be tastier.

I cannot tell you what any of the titles mean because I am American, and only speak English.  If I was to take a guess, I would say "Durch Das Tor" means "Mellow Intro", and "Memoria" is German for "Mellow Interlude" (don't ask me why Mellow is a different word in each title). This obstacle did not in any way stop me from loving every track on this release.

It seemed as if the mix got deeper and thicker with every song. Many of the Black Metal cliché's were thankfully absent. Vespasian's drum tracks were tasteful. Tempo changes were not shunned, and the blackness of the Metal did not suffer from some occasional half-time. Guitar tracks were layered but not muddy. Vocals were what you would expect, but audible enough to be taken seriously.

There are very few negative things to say about "Meadows Of Nostalgia".  I would have liked a few guitar solos, maybe some more prominent bass lines, and better album art, but I am not picking.  Give it a listen if you are a fan of Black Metal.
