Loxodrome - Forget About album cover

LOXODROME are an Austrian 5 piece, who formed in 1999, but have gone through many lineup changes since then. In fact, only two original members of the band remain. Regardless of that, they certainly haven't slacked in their work. This is their third EP, but they've also released three full length albums.

"Forget About" had got a hint of Nu-Metal about it, but please don't let that put you off, because it really is just a hint. Once you get down to it, this release is just a solid Hard Rock/Metal album which is extremely enjoyable, and I kind of wish that it had lasted more than the 15 minutes that it did. As much as I love my music heavy, the stand out track for me was the acoustic "In The Rain". It is what all good acoustic tracks should be - stripped down, emotional and raw. Michael Aitzetmueller's vocals really shine on this song. Saying that though, the other three tracks are brilliant as well, with the big, melodic choruses you come to expect from this sort of music.

It's only four songs, so there's not a huge amount that can be said about it, but it's an extremely good representation of what the band can do. The guitars sound great, creating melodies that, in the band's words, include 'variety and tightness', and are 'complex and catchy', and I have to agree with that description. I don't understand why LOXODROME is not more well-known than they are currently, but they're certainly deserving of a lot more success, and I will definitely be checking out their other work.
