Misprint
Black Oak County

I had never heard of BLACK OAK COUNTY before I started to listen to them for this review. This is a Danish Hard Rock band that was formed in 2012 and that has given us three studio albums before launching their fourth attempt, "Misprint", onto the masses in April 2026. And what these Danes do right is make sure that they add groove as well as danceability to the music they produce. As this is my first encounter with the band, I have no way of comparing them with their earlier releases. Does that matter? Well, not really, but the more precious question to be asked is whether these guys have learned anything along their 14 year career?
That answer has to be a resounding yes, as when the album starts there is no way you can't be impressed with the contents of the most of the available songs, which have Heavy written all over them. What makes them more impressive is that they have been able to achieve that in the same percentage as Groove, Danceability as well as Rock. Not only that, they all have that quality that will make you not only listen to them time and time again, but they have a tendency to start spinning around in your mind, which is a certain sign that you are experiencing a good album, which I have to admit, "Misprint" simply is. Makes this BLACK OAK COUNTY album onto a decent, solid and very dependable one in sound as well as atmosphere.
Even when they slow down, like on "Starlight", they get it right. What I do have to warn you for is that some of the intros will have you thinking of another band. That is inevitable. No, I'm not going to mention the band in question, just know that you will recognise what I mean within seconds. Is that something that BLACK OAK COUNTY should have avoided? Let me phrase it this way; there is no band on this earth that can go around without sometimes sounding like someone or something you've heard before. Which is my way of saying; don't fret about it. take it as it is and just enjoy what you get to hear on "Misprint". That title is very misleading, as this is anything but one of those. As far as I'm concerned, I have to give you my conclusion, which is that BLACK OAK COUNTY has done good on their fourth album.
